At the End of the Day

The rest of the day flew by. I loved it here. There were other mutants my age who actually wanted to be my friends and don't even get me started on how amazing all the teachers are. I loved being in a place where I could fit in! And I know people are always like "It's okay to stand out and be different," but, hey, don't give me that stupid cliché because guess what? It. Gets. Old. I'm not saying I wanna be like a clone or anything, I just don't want to feel left out, and here, I don't!

After all my regular classes, I had my special class with the Professor and a woman who Logan said was his friend, Jean.

I arrived at the bottom level of the mansion. After I stepped out of the elevator, I saw a white hall with scattered grey doors leading to another wall on my right. When I looked to the left though, I saw a circular, iron door with an X on it and in the center of the X was a smaller circle with an even smaller glowing, light blue circle. I felt a certain connection to whatever it was for some reason, like it wanted me to see what was behind the door.

"It's called Cerebro," said a voice from behind me that, honestly, scared the crap out of me. I jumped and gave a tiny squeal.

I turned around and saw it was the Professor. Walking next to him was a tall, skinny woman with fiery red hair and brownish-red eyes.

The two of them chuckled at my squeal. I smiled and apologized.

The Professor replied, "Think nothing of it. Lily, this is Jean-Grey she also possesses both telekinetic and telepathy abilities and will be assisting us." Jean smiled and greeted me. Then the Professor said, "Now, let's get started shall we?"

They turned back around and I followed them to one of the rooms in the hall. The inside of the room was the exact opposite of the hall. It looked cozy with leather furniture, a desk, and brown and dark red vertical (that's up and down for all you brainiacs out there!) striped wallpaper.

The Professor went behind the desk and Jean went to sit in a chair.

"Have a seat Lily," said the Professor. I took a seat in front of the desk and the Professor said, "Today we will start with your training," he came over beside me. "But first I must look into your mind."

I nodded and replied, "Alright, I guess if it helps."

He came over behind me and placed his hands on both of the temples on either side of my head. I closed my eyes and tensed up. What was he going to do? What was happening? I was really nervous but I kept still and kept my eyes closed.

A few moments passed until the Professor pulled away suddenly and groaned. I I turned around to look at him and he was holding his head in his hands. His face was twisted in what looked like agonizing pain.

"Professor!" Jean and I exclaimed together. Jean and I rushed over to him.

He was breathing heavily and said, "It's alright, I'm fine. It's only that there is a strong block on your mind. Your mind is very, very strong. Lily, you must let me in so I can see what I can help you with."

I thought about that. I didn't know I had the ability to keep others out of my mind. I don't open up easily to people. For some reason though, I trusted this man in front of me. I nodded and he tried again. As he was doing it, I relaxed and imagined the Professor in front of a huge gate. It opened for him and he went inside.

I sat alone on a small hill on the grounds for a while. Danny was with a group of teleporters in there special class. The Professor went into my mind and we talked about how we were going to go about teaching me how to control it.

I was laying on the ground when I heard someone walk up. I figured it was Danny, maybe he was done with his class by now. So when the person sat down, I said hi.
