Into the Inferno

Suddenly the huge door was blasted open and the others piled into the room.
Looking disgusted, Nellie waved her hand and about sixty, heavily armed guards appeared.

The world around me sprang into action while I was unable to move; frozen with fear and shock. I watched as the Victor from my nightmares started appearing before me. His nails grew long, sharp, and deadly. His eyes held a horrible expression of excitement in the midst of chaos. He looked at me with a sharp-toothed grin, reminding me of a starving lion having finally found prey.

Victor made an inhuman roar and leaped toward me. Still unable to move, I just stood there until Victor was so close that one more leap would make me dead. But before that could happen, a large figure stepped between Victor and I. The figure pushed me, making me fall. "What are you doing kid," I recognized Logan's voice. I looked up and saw him holding Victor by the throat, Victor's claws digging deep into Logan's hand, making blood gush from the wounds.

I quickly got up and nodded to Logan, but he was already back to fighting Victor, so I went to join my friends in the fight and look for Nellie.

I made my way, slowly, up the stairs to the computer. I hadn't made it far at all by the time I was attacked by guards. I quickly noticed some had different weapons than others. Five guards had surrounded me: three with throwing knives and two guns. I chose one of the guards with guns and leaped at him. I kicked him hard in his stomach, but it didn't do much, because he was wearing a bullet-proof vest. He grabbed my arm, with both hands and grinned like that gave him an advantage. That only helped me make sure he couldn't use his gun. I turned my wrists, grabbed his arms with both hands and flipped him sideways, knocking him unconscious as he hit the ground. I quickly got his gun and shot the guy with the second gun and the four with knives. I then made a mad dash for the steps I saw Nellie leave on.

After running into a few more guards, I had made my way up the steps to the computers, where I saw Nellie putting codes into the computer. She had heard me coming up and turned around.

She calmly smiled again and laughed. "Wow," she said, "You were even faster than I expected."

"I'm done with your games," I said. "I want answers and I want them now!"

She laughed at me again. "I already gave you answers. I told you, mutants are a menace, they all need to be destroyed. All of them."

"Who said those were the answers I wanted?" Not only had she somehow infiltrated the school, but she found her way into my mind, the one place I kept my guard up most often, the place I could disappear into and feel safe. "How did you do it," I asked. "How did you find your way into my head?"

"Who said it was difficult? Maybe your just not as good at keeping people out as you think you are."

I knew she was only trying to make me angrier, but it still got to me. I focused on Nellie and made her go fifty feet in the air and made her hang over the ledge of the computer platform.

For a split second, I thought I saw  flash of fear in her eyes, but it was gone as quickly as it had appeared. "Tell me," I shouted. I surprised myself at how calm I was.

"Fine," she chuckled, "but why don't I let him tell you instead."

I turned around in time to see Finn coming up the stairs.

His face was as blank and emotionless as a rock. "Finn?" I said, "What is it? Are you okay?"

His expression didn't change as he started to speak, his voice like a pre-recorded message.

"Tell her, Finn," Nellie said, smiling. "Tell her what you've done."

He gave a small nod. "For the last few weeks, I leaked carbon monoxide into your room. Not enough to kill you, just enough to make you fall asleep-"

"Finn what are you talking about," I asked, confused. This wasn't the Finn I knew.

But Finn continued on," After you were asleep, I injected the serum into your veins so the nightmares could be slipped into your head, making it easy for Nellie to contact you and learn things about your mind."

"What," I asked, "Finn, what are you talking about? You wouldn't do anything like that. I know you!" I swiftly turned back to Nellie, still suspended in the air. I pointed the gun at her and aimed for her head. "What did you do to him," I demanded.

"Oh he's fine," she said, smiling. "He's only 'Taken', that's what I'm calling it,  when people have been infected with the serum. He's under my complete control. It was effortless capturing him. He really shouldn't go off by himself; he's not the best fighter."

Something clicked in my head and I looked toward the computer control panels. I aimed the gun at all the panels and looked up at Nellie again. Her smug expression fell to one of darkness and anger. "You wouldn't dare. You'll blow this place sky high!"

"Yeah well, we'll see about that, won't we?"

I fired shots at the control panel and it started sparking all over until some parts of it caught on fire. Everything suddenly went silent and the whole world started turning in slow motion. I let go of Nellie and focused all my power on the computers just as they all exploded.

There was a huge wall of immense heat and the computers went up in an all out inferno. I put all my energy into containing the fire and taking the oxygen away from the flames. My vision started going black at the edges and I fell to my knees, unable to stand any longer. I could feel the energy being drained from my body.

The last thing I saw was the fire finally dying down before I fell to the ground and everything went black.

Hey guys! I'm sorry it's been so long since my last update!!! I've been so busy with school (Straight A's are a piece of work) and sports and stuff, but I finally found time to update my story.
