After the meet, Danny and I go into the city to celebrate my first placing at the meet. Danny drops me off at home around 8 o'clock.

"Hey," says Danny, "I told you you would be great!"

I replied, "Ya ya, you told me so. Thanks Danny, you're the best!"

We hugged goodbye and I headed inside.

When I got inside I called, "Dad! Scarlet! I'm home!" I set my stuff on the counter. "I got first place today!"

Along with telepathy I have advanced senses and almost immediately I felt that something was wrong. There was a strange smell going around the house that was unfamiliar but, somehow it was familiar to me.

"Dad?!" I called, "Scarlet?!"

I was getting worried and started running around the house looking for them. I called Dad's phone but there was no answer. I tried five more times with the same results. Maybe he's still at work. I called the lab.

"Huffington Research Lab. How may I help you?"

"Hi, my name is Lily Jenkins and I was looking for my dad Tyler Jenkins."

"My computer says he left hours ago, sorry."

"That's alright, thanks."

I hung up and started getting more worried. Things started shaking around me. I tried calling Scarlet. It rang a few times. Then I heard it: Scarlet's phone was going off. I ran to the source of the sound: her room.

"Scarlet, didn't you hear me calling you?"

I open the door and the room's empty. I see Scarlet's phone on her bed and the strange smell hits me again. I run to grab her phone and see that there's a missed call from an untraceable number and a message. I pick up the phone and listen to the message. The phone is covered in the strange smell.

"Hello Lillian." It was a rough deep voice I had never heard before yet, like the smell, seemed eerily familiar. "As you've probably noticed by now, your father and sister are gone. I've taken them but don't worry they're being well taken care of. I needed them for something and now I need you. The only way I will let them go is if someone comes to get them. Only you can find them and bring them home safe. All you've gotta do is get to Westchester New York in two months. Should you foolishly choose not to come I will take you by force and destroy your family; and we wouldn't want that now would we? My men will be there waiting for you. Oh, and do both yourself and myself a favor and don't tell the authorities about this or....well, you know what'll happen. Have a wonderful evening Ms. Jenkins."

The message ended. Tears rolled down my face. I dropped the phone. I was shaking. The room started shaking and I couldn't stop. I collapsed on the floor beside the phone and wept uncontrollably. Moments later I pulled myself together and everything stopped shaking. I picked up my phone. My Uncle Logan was the one person I knew like me. He wasn't a telepath though. He could make indestructible metal claws come out of his hands; they can cut through anything. He can heal himself from anything, even a gunshot wound to the head. The only thing that wouldn't heal is if something were to be cut off. I called him.

I let go of the breath I didn't know I was holding until he answered, "Hey kiddo, what's up? How did the swim meet go, sorry I missed it."

"Logan that's fine, look. I need you to come over here now and hurry!"
