Gabe told me no matter what, not to glare at the guy, and not to speak unless I'm being spoken to.

The only thing keeping me from having a heart attack is Gabe sitting next to me in his dress slacks.

He's completely calm, relaxed even, and I'm terrified.

My leg is bouncing nonstop. Gabe puts his hand on my knee and presses down and then pulls his hand away.

He didn't even look away from the judge.

I force myself to stop bouncing, watching the dick's lawyer question him after Gabe did.

And before I know it, I'm on the stand.

Don't glare at the guy and don't speak unless your spoken to.

I say the stupid oath saying I'll tell the truth and settle back in my seat.

I need a fucking drink.

If I win this shit, I'm getting smashed.

My eyes land on Odeletta and she gives me a small reassuring smile.

I take a deep breath.

I can do this.

"Tell me Mr. Reed, how are you today?" The dicks lawyer asks.

I resist the urge to roll my eyes.

"I have had better days." I say.

I've had better months, really.

He nods slowly.

"Tell me Nathan, how is Odeletta this fine day?"

I clench my jaw.

"Objection." Gabe says immediately, standing up. "How is this relevant?"

"I'm just asking because Mr. Reed punched my client over his fiancé."

"Sustained." The judge says.

She sounds bored.

The lawyer sighs.

"How about you tell me what happened that day when you punched my client." He says. "Let's start with the basics. I want your entire day, from the moment you woke up to the moment you went to bed."

Fuck.

I glance at Odette.

Our eyes lock and I take a deep breath.

"You want all the details?" I ask.

I'm going to make him uncomfortable.

"Yes."

Okay then, dickface, let me give you all the details.

"Well my family was in town because it was three days before Thanksgiving." I say. "So I got up early because the walls in my house are thin and everything is heard easily...I had sex with my fiancé, took a shower where I had sex with my fiancé again, I got dressed and went downstairs and Odeletta was still in the shower and since I was near the door and my roommates were sitting, I answered the door."

"Let me stop you for a moment." He puts his hand up. "You don't live with only your fiancé?"

The smug look on his face tells me dickface McGee already knows the answer.

"No, I live with Harper Montgomery, Odeletta Guillotin, Mason Oleson, and Gabriel Reed."

"Gabriel Reed? Your lawyer?"

"Objection!" Gabe says, sounding irritated. "In the state of New York it is legal to have a family member represent you in court."

"Sustained." The judge says, looking at the greasy guy's lawyer.
