(Y/n)'s pov
I feel the numbness grasping me and I fall limp in my father's arms as he drags me across the floor and down a flight of stairs. I have nothing left now. He was everything.
"Stand up you whore traitor." He yells, dropping me onto familiar grey stone. I feel a sense of de ja vu but I'm sure I've never been here before. A bright white light, unlike anything I can recall seeing, shines from the bottom sections of the wall and lights the pathway. Why do I feel like I've been here so many times before?
"Walk. Now." Rodrigo barks and drags me to my feet before pushing me off down the hallway.
I stumble down it as fast as my body will allow and falter as we reach its end, a large, open hall with a lowered pit in the center.
Father roughly pushes me towards the edge and I lose my footing, slipping over the edge and falling to the ground bellow. It knocks the wind out of me and my whole left side is screaming in pain.
After climbing hastily down, he gets to the work attempting to open the vault.
"You're a vile beast, Rodrigo Borgia." My voice echoes around the large room whilst I haul myself into a sitting position. "You are a cantankerous, evil, petty villain!"
"Watch your tongue!"
"No!" I shout as I force myself to stand. "I loved them! All of them. Their blood coats your hands.
Petruccio.
Federico.
Giovanni.
...Ezio! ...my Ezio..." I choke back a loud sob as I clutch my chest; it feels so raw. As if all the love it held had rotted it and filled it with an immense anger.
"Don't give me cause to kill you, child! You may think me a monster but I still raised you as my daughter. I would hate for you to push my hand and ensure your premature demise." Rodrigo sights, walking to the centre of the room and raising the papal staff.
He gently slips it into a crevice on the stone floor and twists it into place with a small click, after which he proceeds to place the apple at the staff's head.
"Finally, after so many years of waiting! The vault's secrets will be mine." He laughs, releasing the pieces of Eden and observing them expectantly. "...why is it not working?!"
Bitter laughter bubbles up inside me and erupts from my mouth, "You're forgetting something."
He whips around and glares at me,
"What could I have possibly neglected?"
"Well wouldn't you like to know." I smirk, drawing my short sword.
He unsheathes his sword.
We both harbour unsettling grins before we clash, relentlessly raining down countless heavy blows against each other - which I easily block and he clumsily glances off.
I almost have him now. His breathing is too laboured for him to continue much longer.
I could just deliver the final blow but something makes me hesitate. Is this...sentiment?
Shaking it off I resume my attacks, dodging and countering all attacks whilst dealing out a few mild and certainly survivable blows.
"Did I really raise a child too weak to kill me? Impossible! You're scared!"
"I'm not scared!" I shout, strongly delivering an upwards strike and knocking the sword out of his hands and across the room. I hold my sword steadily in line with his throat and stare him down, malice in my eyes.
