You run for a good 40 minutes and arrive at a clearing which you know from your many morning runs is only a few minutes away from the stream. Your breathing is slightly labored but that wasn't why you stopped running.
You felt as if somebody was there with you in the forest. You survey the surrounding woods but you can see only trees and bushes.Snap
You spin towards the noise and see the bushes rustling.
Your hand instinctively darts to your back to grab your bow but all that is there are your poison vials.
"Merda, I left my damn bow behind!" You think to yourself as you begin to sprint towards the stream.
As a Templar, you were taught to always be prepared for anything. So you had hidden a bow and a quiver of arrows nested in a hollow tree by the stream. You checked on the bow every morning you ran past it and it had always been there.
You reach the steam after a few minutes of sprinting, you see the hollow tree and can hear the soft trickle of water as it flows between boulders and cascades over natural ledges formed by the pebbles and rocks. You pour all your energy into the last 100m and ,now panting, snatch your bow and quiver from the hollow.
You quickly place the arrow and draw back the bowstring, your back to the tree.Snap!
Crunch!
You follow the sounds with your bow and keep the string taught. Your arms ache from the strain of keeping your bow drawn and your heart is beating so violently that you think you can see your chest pulsing!
You are so sure that something is still here but after a minute or two of silence you begin to doubt your initial paranoia. You relax your arm and slightly lower your bow.
"Who is there?" You call into the gradually lightening forest. As you do so a figure slowly emerges from behind a tree. The rising sun blotchily lights him and the forest takes on a golden hue as the sun rises over the houses visible through a few km of thin trees.
"Please, do not shoot me signora!", a young boy of about 10 years stands before you. He wears a yellow tunic and black trousers. He has shoulder length brown hair and dark brown eyes. You lower your bow immediately.
"What are you doing here, little boy?" You ask.
"I was playing with my brother Ezio and I saw that feather up there!", he points to a brown feather sticking from a bird's nest ,"I want it for my collection...but I couldn't get it so I was looking for my brother to get it for me."
You look up at the feather; it's not that far up in the tree. You jog towards the tree and at the last minute run up its trunk, reaching up for the lowest branch. You grab it a pull yourself up onto it. From here you again run up the tree but this time you kick off the trunk and reach up for the next branch. Hauling yourself onto it, you sit there and, upon seeing more than one feather in the nest, you smile. Grabbing all the feathers, you jump down to the ground and hand them to the boy.
"Grazie!" The boy exclaims delightedly ,"I am Petruccio Auditore, who are you?"
"Ciao, Petruccio. I am-"
You are cut off by a mans shouts.
"PETRUCCIO!!!"
The young boy jumps and looks around excitedly.
"EZIO!" He shouts back, his face the picture of pure joy and innocence.-----------------------------------------
