Their blood is all I think about as I zip across the courtyard outside of the citadel and frantically climb one of the buildings opposite.

I relax slightly and clamp my eyes shut, opening them to the familiar grayed world I see through my 'sixth sense'.

I scan the streets and quickly find them, the two brothers and an entourage of Templar puppets.

I take off towards them, leaping across the rooftops as fast as I can.

When I finally get close enough to them I jump off the roof, rolling out of the landing to end up a few dozen meters away from the group.

"Checco. Ludovico. Remember me?" I shout, drawing my sword and storming towards them.

"Ah, how could we forget (y/n)? It was an amazing time we had together, wasn't it brother?" Checco goads, only worsening my burning anger.

"Yes, I remember it quite fondly. Maybe we can do it again sometime, would you like that (y/n)?" Ludovico retorts, drawing his sword and prompting his men to do the same.

"I'll kill you both!" I scream and charge, hauling my sword at the nearest brother, Checco.

He blocks my wild swing and laughs, his brother joining in.

I throw swing after swing at them in a mad rage but they just deflect them all.

"You've gotten weaker if that's possible." Ludovico jeers as he continues to block my attacks.

"Brother, stop toying with her. We have places to be, remember?" Checco sneers and gives his men a signal.

They circle me, blocking off any exits. I raise my sword to fight back but it gets knocked out of my hands, clattering to the floor.

I growl at them and raise my fists but strong arms grab mine from behind and restrain me.

I'm trapped in the hold of two massive guards and I don't even have a sword.

Bugger.

Ezio's pov

(Y/n)'s safety is all I could think about as she darted out of the gates and ran straight into trouble. Again.

I almost managed to get out of the citadel to follow her but, as I was about to leave, more men started to pour over the walls and attack us.

It didn't take long to fend them off and I was surprised to see Ferdinand stayed to help us.

Caterina told me to meet her on top of one of the citadel's turrets and, as I climb closer to the top, I can hear the footfalls of a few dozen men and their laughter too.

Once at the top, I stand with Caterina and stare down at the approaching group of men, led by none other than the Orsi brothers.

"Caterina Sforza! We know you are in there, I have something you may want back. Are you missing any children?" One of the brothers shouts, although I'm not sure which.

"And Ezio Auditore, what a pleasant surprise! We have something you may want back too, although this one is a little damaged." The other brother laughs and I clench my fists as two of the larger guards step forward, dragging a struggling and practically snarling (y/n) in between them.

Her lip is bleeding and even from up here I can see the partially formed bruises on her face.

"Let her go, or I'll-" I begin shouting, enraged by the visible harm they'd done to her.

"If you want her to keep breathing then you won't move an inch. And if Caterina wants her children back then bring us the apple and those maps!" The older brother calls, signalling his men to turn around and leave. "You have one hour, or we will slit her babies' throats ear to ear and (y/n)... let's just say she can relive what traumatised her all those years ago."
