(Y/n)'s POV

In my new dress and mask I made my way to the meeting point I set up with Dante. However beautiful the outfit is, it sure as hell isn't inconspicuous and I can feel the gazed of almost everyone who passes me along with the occasional whispers or whistles.

This mask is actually pretty perfect, it covers my stitches almost completely and, as long as I don't take it off, Dante won't even realise that it's there. Although that wouldn't matter much, I could always lie about how I got it but I doubt that would be necessary; battle scars are just another part of the job description. And now I guess spending alone time with Dante is too.

"Ah, could you be the beautiful flower I've been waiting for?" Shivers run up my spine at the familiarly sinister voice called out from behind me. "I was starting to think you wouldn't come but I see now that you were simply getting ready for me."

Tch, how arrogant of him to assume that. Such a pig.

"Yes, I'm sorry I'm late but it took me a while to get into this dress for you." I turn around to see him standing behind me, smirking and loosely holding a mask at his side. I can see his eyes roaming all over my body and lingering on the tight bust of the dress. "Shall we go? I hear that they have already set up the square with games for carnevale. Are you entering any of them?"

"Maybe, although it wouldn't be fair on the other contenders if I entered all the competitions..." He said as he strode forward, wrapped his arm around my waist and gently tugged me along with him as he guided me down the streets, leaning down to whisper in my ear, "...because once I set my eyes of the prize, it always becomes mine."

Not this time Dante. You can't have me.

Ezio's pov

I can't believe her! She's always picking fights with me, it's like she doesn't even want to be happy anymore.

"What do you think, Ezio?"

God, she's so stubborn; it's infuriating to the point where I don't even know if I want to chase after her anymore. Every time I get closer, or I think she's lowered her guard, she distances herself again.

"Hey, Ezio?"

Even after everything we've been through and what we did in my uncle's villa, she still won't just trust me and open up.

"Ezio!?" Antonio had stopped pacing back and forth to wave a hand infront of my face. "Have you been listening to anything I've said?"

"I'm sorry Antonio, I'm just a little distracted right now." I see both him and sister Teodora looking at me disapprovingly.

"Ezio you have to forget about that Templar girl, she isn't good for the order and she certainly isn't good for you." Teodora sits beside me and rests her hand on my shoulder.

"Forget about that! There's no
time!" Antonio slaps my back and laughs. "We have bigger fish to fry, my friend."

"You're right, tell me the plan." I stand up and focus this time on Antonio as he runs me through the plan once more.

Marco Barbarigo will be the next to fall to my blade.

(Y/n) pov

The square was packed, almost to the point of being unpleasantly crowded, with eager civilians. Some were just watching but most of the men were trying to play the carnivale games, repugnantly desperate to show off their masculinity to the dolled up ladies watching them.

"For you, my fair lady," An entertainer slipped a coloured ribbon into my hand and winked. "To give to the most charming gentleman of our first challenge."

I look at the pink ribbon in my palm, gazing at it curiously. What kind of challenge is this?

"Ah signore, may I have that ribbon?" A deep voice in my ear and a warm hand at my waist draw my attention from the material.

"Why?" I ask calmly, noticing the strangers hand brushing up my rib cage to my shoulder and then down my arm, heading for the ribbon I'm holding.

"I need it to win a game, you aren't using it so just- woah!" The man is roughly pulled away from my waist by an infuriated Dante, pushing me slightly into a group of bystanders, as he throws him to the ground and kicks him.

Starting to turn around and help the stranger, I am stopped by a glimpse of white moving away from us in the crowd. Before I can help myself I smile, quickly replacing it with a frown, as I notice something.

My hands are empty.

As the games continue I don't pay much attention to the outcomes, although one familiar face keeps appearing.

Why am I an idiot? I think, my mind cast back to the argument we had the other day. He was just trying to keep me safe I guess.

"(Y/n), we have a problem." Dante grasps my wrist and drags me towards a makeshift brawling ring, gesturing to the countless knocked out men scattered around the place. "It's him. The assassin. Watch as I show him how a real man fights."

Dante throws himself into the ring and swings at Ezio, who ducks to avoid it and counters with a hard blow to Dante's abdomen.

After Ezio lands the first punch he doesn't even allow Dante to recover before assaulting him with a barrage of punches and kicks, leaving Dante a bloody mess, sprawled on the floor and clutching his nose. He stands and gives a signal before retreating back to me, eyes locked to the ground and fists clenched tightly.

Armed guards enter the ring and surround him, drawing their swords and daggers after bribing the supervisor of this challenge.

"(Y/n), let's not waste our time here, I hear there is someone of of great importance to you." Dante finally looks me in the eyes, granted it isn't for long as they soon shift to someone just behind me.

"It has been a long time, (y/n)." At that deeply familiar voice I shudder and turn to face him.

"I'm afraid I've been terribly busy...

Father."
