TAEHYUNG.
It was about forty-five minutes later when Taehyung received a phone call from Jin. Jin told him where they were and that he was welcome to go to his house if he didn't feel safe. Taehyung thanked him simply but didn't go to Jin's home. Instead he climbed a tree and watched the sea in the distance.
Sirens still blared in his mind, bouncing off the walls of his head echoing loudly. He sighed and wiped away the tears that had fallen down his face and sniffled. Be a man, he thought, just grow up and be a man.
He called Jin again. He wasn't completely heartless. Even if hospitals scared him he still wanted to know if the poor guy who collapsed was okay. In their last phone call, the only words Taehyung managed to speak were 'thank you' and 'hello'.
"Hello?" Jin answered, curious as to why Taehyung would call him again. He was worried for the boy and didn't want him to get hurt or into any trouble.
"Hello, Jin hyung. I just wanted to ask uh, is that guy okay?" Jin smiled. Caring was a side of Taehyung he didn't really see often. Taehyung was playful like a child and joked around a lot but when the situation was sensitive, he backed away timidly. In the five months Jin had known Taehyung he'd never seen him cry, he'd never heard him say sorry and he'd never seen him angry.
"They're not telling us anything because we're not family but we plan to stay until a family member arrives. They've identified him but again, they refuse to tell us anything" Jin explained. Taehyung bit his lip.
"So he's not dead?" Jin's breathe hitched for second at Taehyung's cold words. They weren't intended to be harsh, Taehyung could never be harsh to anyone, it was just a harsh thing to ask and it caught Jin off guard.
"No, he's alive. Are you going to my house? You have the spare key with you right?" Jin swiftly moved on from the morbid topic swiftly, feeling uncomfortable.
"I'm gonna stay till you return. I don't wanna walk there alone. Your neighbours always think I'm breaking in." he said quietly, feeling a little embarrassed. Jin chuckled quietly, very aware of his surroundings.
The first time Jin and Taehyung ever met, Taehyung was cutting through Jin's large back yard, running away from some crazy lady with a large dog. Jin was walking towards the bottom of his garden, just by the pond when Taehyung ran straight into him. Jin stumbled back a little where as Taehyung fell right into the pond.
Jin took him in, let him have a hot shower and let him stay over that night. They talked over two mugs of amazing hot chocolate that Jin had made. Jin learned he was homeless had been staying in people's sheds or really whatever shelter he could find. Jin instantly felt sorry for him and wanted to help out.
"You can stay with me if you'd like" Taehyung was quick to turn down his offer. He felt like a burden. Jin didn't mind at all. He lived alone and it would be nice to talk to someone besides his old butler, Benny. In the end Taehyung ended up staying with Jin on and off. He'd return late at night sometimes and felt bad so he'd sleep outside. So about two months in, Jin gave him a key to the backdoor.
Jin didn't know where Taehyung stayed when he didn't stay with Jin but he didn't interfere. Taehyung had his own life, he surely didn't want Jin meddling in it.
Namjoon also felt some responsibility for Taehyung. He was just a kid. He was seventeen and he didn't attend any school. He hadn't done for a quiet some time. But Taehyung assured Jin and Namjoon he was okay and that he didn't need help. He was lying to them, of course, but he just wanted to be alone sometimes. He didn't have parents and he didn't want them which is why he lied to Jin and Namjoon, in fear they'd become like his parents.
Taehyung and Jin stayed on the phone for half an hour before a nurse came and told them that a family member was on their way.
"Tae I gotta go. Wait under the bridge for us, we'll be there soon"
"Bye, drive safe hyung" He hung up and jumped down from the tree. He walked across the field, watching people having fun on the beach.
The field was on a cliff, hanging over the beach that people actually went to. There was a gradual slope that lead down to the paved area. This pavement lead to under the bridge and a car park at the bottom where people would park for the beach. Under the bridge was surrounded by a chain fence. The gate was open so anyone could enter really. It was all spray printed underneath. There was a small hole in the fence on the other side that lead to the abandoned beach. The cliff above it was high and dangerous, heaven's doorway.
Taehyung walked under the bridge and took a seat on the dusty red couch that was underneath it. It was quite low to the ground and not very comfortable but some days, this was Taehyung's bed. That's what Jin and Namjoon didn't know. Even if where Namjoon lived wasn't too far. Two old car seats that had been ripped out served as armchairs. The iron basin that the fire usually blared out of was rusty and full of burned embers. It wasn't great but it served as Taehyung's home.
It wasn't too long before the shiny black Range Rover pulled in. Jin, Namjoon and Jimin, the kid that Taehyung was yet to meet, stepped out of the vehicle. They walked over, Jin and Namjoon taking their usually spots on the car seats. Taehyung sat up and moved over so Jimin could sit down but Jimin just stood there awkwardly.
"Jimin, you can sit down. He doesn't bite" Jin said, a playful smile on his face. Jimin just smiled awkwardly and sat beside Taehyung.
"Taehyung, this is Jimin" Taehyung turned to face the orange haired boy. He flashed his infamous boxy smile.
"Nice to meet you Jimin, I'm Kim Taehyung"
