Chapter Seven
Scarlett's POV
"You want a what?" I hiss at him shocked. Never in a million years would I thought that he'd be asking me this.
Matt looks at me desperately. "I want a paternity test."
"Wh-why?" I stammer out, not trusting my ears.
"Because, I think, actually I'm more than positive, that you're lying to me about Georgia's parents. I'm pretty sure that I'm the father." he says earnestly.
I gulp. Oh boy.
"No you're not," I say unconvincingly.
He steps closer to me. "I'm pretty sure I am. I know you. You wouldn't have cheated on me, it's not in you. You loved me and you still do. I know Nate is abusing you, don't even try to deny it. I can go about getting this paternity test done the easy way or the hard way. Your choice."
I groan. I knew Matt, he wasn't going to let this go. "Okay, fine, but we do it when Nate leaves for his meeting. He cannot find out about this. Got it?"
Matt nods.
"Good."
I turn to leave, but his hand circles around my wrist. I turn to look at him, slightly annoyed and scared. I don't want to upset Nate and ruin his good mood by taking too long in the "bathroom".
"What?" I demand.
"Who's the father's name on her birth certificate?" he asks quietly.
At that moment, it was as if time stood still. I had no clue what to say to him, so I settle on the truth, for once.
"There is no father's name. I told them I didn't know."
"You know who the father is don't you?"
I look away, I couldn't look him in the eye without wanting to tell him.
"I need to get back," I avoid the question.
He let's me go and I start to walk away from him slowly.
"Scarlett," he calls and I half turn to face him, "I will find out who the father is, and if it's me, we'll have a long discussion."
I nod and head back to the table.

Matt's POV
Asking her for a paternity test on Georgia had to be one of the most nerve-racking things I'd ever done. This one test would determine if Scarlett has been lying all along or if she is telling the truth and doesn't love me anymore.
Deep down, though, I know she loves me, even if it's only a tiny part of her.
I sigh and run my fingers through my hair before turning back and walking to my table.
"What'd she say?" Marco, my stable manager, asks.
I plop down in my seat. "She didn't say much. She agreed to the paternity test, well, after a lot of convincing. Having to convince her as much as I did, that makes me almost positive she's mine."
"Here's your order," the waitress interrupts us. We make room for our food, and she shoots me a flirtatious smile after she sets my food down. I ignore her, though. There's only one girl who can fill my mind, and she is sitting right across the restaurant with her little girl.
Our little girl...

Scarlett's POV
Today is the day.
Georgia sits in the backseat, not a care in the world. She doesn't have a clue what's going on. All she knows is that we are going to the doctor for a checkup.
"Okay, baby, we're here," I say as I pull into a parking spot.
She quickly unbuckles herself and bolts out of the door. I nervously chuckle at her.
Grabbing my purse, I follow her in.
"Scarlett and Georgia Hanks, we have an appointment at 12:30," I tell the receptionist.
She nods and starts bringing files up on the computer. I look over my shoulder to see Georgia playing in the kids section.
I lean over the counter and lower my voice, "Can you please tell the doctor to not mention that she's getting a paternity test. She doesn't know."
The receptionist looks at me and shoots me a sympathetic smile. "Of course, I'll be sure to let him know."
I smile back at her. Just as I turn around, I come face-to-face with Matt.
I glare at him and through clenched teeth I ask, "Why are you here?"
He shoots me his famous smirk, "For my paternity test, what else?"
"You couldn't have picked a different time?"
"Well seeing as it's me being a father in question and my request, it should be done at the same time."
I give him an exasperated look, "Georgia doesn't know about this, got it?"
He nods, understanding.
Just as I take my seat, the nurse comes into the room. "Scarlett and Georgia Hanks, the doctor is ready to see you."
I grab Georgia, shoot Matt a warning glare, and follow the nurse into one of the exam rooms.
Minutes later, the doctor walks in.
"Hello, ladies," he smiles at us.
"Hi, I'm Georgia!" Georgia pipes up.
"Hey there, I'm Dr. Holstings," he smiles kindly towards her. "All we are doing today is a quick pinprick, just to make sure your blood is all good, okay?"
Georgia nods furiously.
I am so thankful that the doctor didn't say anything about it being a paternity test. He quickly gave us the pinprick and sent us on our way.
Now, it was only a matter of time before Matt knew the truth.

Matt's POV
Everyday I waited impatiently for the mail, hoping the results would come in. No such luck.
I am in the middle of teaching a lesson when Marco comes running into the arena, dragging Alicia behind him.
"Sir! Sir! It's here," he yells across the arena.
My face pales. This is it.
I turn to my student, "Alicia will be finishing your lesson." With that, I run out of the arena and snatch the packet from Marco's hand.
I rush to my office and lock the door. Slowly, I sit down in my chair, putting the packet on the desk.
After a few minutes of staring at it, I grab it and rip it open.
My mouth drops to the ground.
Your DNA matches Georgia Hanks DNA. You are Georgia Hanks's biological father.
