"Hey," Jimmy smiled. He was leaning against my locker and moved so I could open it. He wore a beige jacket with a dark colored shirt underneath. A smug lie on his face as I smiled back. "You look nice today."
I shooed him off, "I usually don't dress like this, but its a lazy day because I'm testing in two of my classes - and plus it's chilly outside." I wore sweats and a basic tshirt.
He shrugged, "You still look nice."
"Thanks," I chuckled and grabbed my jacket along with my folder.
Jimmy and I had gotten a lot much more closer. He would start walking me to all my classes and sat by me during lunch when he could. He even walked me home sometimes if he didn't have basketball practice.
"I'll see you during fourth period," he said and walked away. I was confused because we were still at my locker, and he hadn't walked me to class yet. I watched him quickly rush into the crowd and bump shoulders with some girl. She smiled at him and he quickly returned a goofy laugh. Just when I thought I was feeling special, this has to happen.
I ignored it, or at least attempted, until Reggie had to say one of his smart remarks. He may have gotten a lot more intelligent and serious, but he still had those damn smart remarks.
"I told you he wasn't worth it," he said and chewed on his breakfast muffin.
I rolled my eyes but then smiled when I saw it was blueberry, "Gimme a piece." I reached for it, and he was quick to pull it back.
"Chill," he laughed. "You're eyes got big as fück. At least say 'please' or something, man." He took another large bite while I stood there desperately wanting a piece. I freaking loved blueberry muffins and he knew this.
"Please," I pouted. He gave me the rest of it, and I quickly reached up to kiss his cheek. "Thanks, Reg."
"Woah, I didn't know you two were a thing," DeMar said and the three of us started walking to class.
"We're not," Reggie chuckled. I stuffed the muffin in my mouth and nodded along with Reg.
Rozan chuckled and came to my side, "Hey, can I talk to you for a sec?"
I unlocked my phone and saw that we still had ten minutes until the final tardy bell rang. I nodded my head and told Reggie goodbye and then followed Rozan. He brought me towards the commons and we sat down on one of the benches. He scratched the back of his neck and then looked towards me.
"Oh wow, I didn't notice you weren't wearing any makeup. You look nice," he said. I shook my head and smiled, him and Jimmy were on something,
"Thanks."
He nodded his head awkwardly and then turned his full body towards me, "What happened between us?"
I furrowed my eyebrows, "What are you talking about?"
He hesitated and rubbed his hands together, "We don't talk that much anymore. Like we used to go over to each other's houses in the morning, and we haven't the past week at all. I just feel like we've been distant and I don't want us to become distant." He chuckled before continuing, "I miss you."
"Rozan, we talk during classes and at lunch. What do you mean we don't talk?"
He stuttered, "We don't even sit next to each other at lunch. You either wander off with Jimmy or leave the school."
"Why don't you join Jimmy and I then?" I furrowed my eyebrows. Everything he was saying was true, though. We don't talk like how we used to nor do we text each other as often.
