We sat in silence for a few minutes thinking.

"It's your choice Grace." he looked up at me.

"I'm not sure..." I really wasn't. I didn't want to hurt him anymore or try to love him when I couldn't even love myself. I made all this happen.

"Well, we can think about it...i was just hoping that we can still, no matter what, be friends."

"Why can't we be best friends?" I asked looking up at him.

He smiled and put his hand on my thigh. "Sure, best friends."

I smiled back and then got up. I walked down the stairs and then into the kitchen with Miller following. "Where did all the glass go?"

"I cleaned it up." He was leaning against the doorway to the kitchen.

"Thanks," I said while putting my head down. I walked to grab a new glass and filled it with water. I then handed it to him and he drank little sips.

"So, what are we going to do today?"

"Well first, I have to figure out a way to make this hand print go away."

"It's almost gone...just a little red." He responded. I noticed that he slowly swallowed his water and clenched the glass once he started to talk.

"Miller,"

"Hm?" He responded. He was just staring at my cheek now.

"Don't worry...I'll be fine." I just wanted to reassure him, but I myself didn't even know if I was going to be okay or not.

He just stared at me and I looked at him and tried to fake a smile.

"I don't know Grace," he said while rubbing his neck.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Well...what if he comes back?"

"I don't know...I guess we could talk."

"He won't want to talk..." He said while looking up.

"What if he does?" I was a little irritated. I guess I just wanted him back, but I'm not sure why.

"Then you talk and make sure that you guys are done and over with."

"But, what if were not?" I asked.

"Grace...you really want to go back to him?" He got a worried look in his face.

"I don't know....what if it was just a phase?"

"It's not a phase Grace."

I got a little red and then grabbed myself a glass. "You never know," I was now facing the window.

He set his glass on the table and looked at me. "Grace, if he hurt you once...he's going to hurt you twice."

"How would you know?" I asked while turning around.

"Because..." He hesitated.

"Are you going to finish your sentence?" I asked.

"Because, he doesn't love you. If he did...he wouldn't have hurt you." He said while walking towards me. I looked down and he tried to make eye contact with me. "Grace, I will protect you."

"Thanks, but I'm fine right now." I was though. Devon wasn't around so there was no way that I could be hurt. I looked up and smiled at him. I then heard the doorbell ring. I walked over to the door and opened it. It was Devon. I quickly slammed the door and locked it.

"Who is it?" Asked Miller.

I looked up at him with fear in my eyes. "Devon."

He started to walk towards me very quickly. "Let me to the door! I'm going to set that coward straight!"
