Summer In The City. CSI MIAMI FIC part 4

They all came punctual at 5 p.m.
Speed was serving coffee at the balcony, waiting for Courtney to come out. They were all willing to see her.
"Sooo, where's she?"
"Making herself pretty, as always." The moment Courtney peeped in and said
"Hi everyone! "
Eric came front and shouted "you're so thin girl!" Then he noticed something nobody else saw at the first sight. "Court???"
"Yeah." Speed took her hand and pushed her in front of him- "as you all now see,we're gonna be parents in few months. Courtney is very thin, but she will surely start eating soon."
Eric reacted first "oh my God! Congratulations Courtney!"
Speed took a quick look at trying to avoid his sight Natalia. She looked at him and nodded. Then she smiled and approached them to congratulate. H.was the last. "It's a surprise I must say. But very nice surprise" he kissed her on the cheek." I'm happy for you two. "
"Thank you, H."
"How are you doing? "
"Better or worse. I hope the problems with stomach will end soon. "
The party became divided into two parts. Eric, H. Speed ,Ryan and Harry went outside to have a drink. Calleigh, Natalia and Courtney sat on the sofa.
"Did you pick the name?" Natalia asked.
"No not yet. It's so long from here..."
"But you look good. Does he treat you well?"
"Well, after a shock at first, he's getting used to the idea. It's not perfect, but the child wasn't planned as you probably noticed."
Cal laughed "well...Speed changing the nappies, or feeding with the formula...I need to see
it "
"Yeah. Me too " Coutney nodded.
"Are you again...you know..."
"A couple?Not exactly" Courtney sighed. "I must say I'd like to, but It takes time... I don't want to push on him.. He's moving in, but staying in the guestroom for now".
"But...." Natalia insisted- "does it mean you're gonna be together someday?"
"I hope so...he's trying so hard... I'm trying too."
"It will be ok" Cal said looking surprised at Natalia "you're gonna have a baby and this is the most important. "
"Yeah" she put her hand on the belly". I'm scared to death..."
"Why?"
"Cause I had some issues before..I want my baby to be loved, by both parents in a happy family. And I deserted its father before it was even born, then kept it secret. I see Tim blames me for that."
"Oh come on...guys need time to get used to. He'll be ready when it's time. He already delivered one remem..."Calleigh suddenly remembered what was the ending of that delivery. "Sorry Courtney, I really am..."
"Why?" Natalia wanted to know.
"The baby was born and died on his hands. Premature. " Courtney whispered.
"Oh... " Natalia sighed." Why?"
"Domestic violence" Cal explained but was still observing the suddenly saddened Courtney.
"Calleigh...don't worry. I'm ok. It was different."
"Sorry again...Have you got any tasties? For icecream or pickles?" Natalia laughed
"No...i'm not eating much actually. It's hard. I just can't. Just like I just can't believe that I'm back here."
"You want to stay for good?"
"I don't know yet. I guess it depends" she had a quick look at Tim standing with the guys on the terrace
At 10 pm they were both tired but happy. Each of them from a different reason. Courtney because of meeting them eye to eye and showing them the "reason" for it, and Speed because he felt 'lighter'...like there were no secrets anymore. They washed up and Courtney went to the shower.
He was still sitting on the couch when she got back.
,Hi gorgeous " he smiled
"Hi handsome" she smiled back and sat heavily. "What's up?"
"I'm so tired Court...I'm starting tomorrow at 8. Gotta get some sleep. You should get some sleep too. And the baby...do you think it's a boy or a girl in there?"
"I dont know...I havent thought of it yet...I don't actually care whether it's a boy or a girl...you?"
"Me neither" he said." We'll see."
He went to the showers. Standing under the splash of cool water he realized that this is it. He said - "I'm gonna be a father" to all his friends and there is no turning back. He cannot do anything about it. He was scared. Hell, A lot. She calmed down a bit,didn't act as a scared kid anymore like the day  he found her. She was getting used to being a mother, but started demanding a bit more. He wasn't sure if he's ready to give it another chance. She looked so thin, only with that...bump. Just like someone else. He liked her body when she had some more weight- she was never a skinny person, rather slim with a little bit of extra kilos here and there, but always sporty and attractive. Now she looks different from then, skinny, tired of stomach problems, nervous and strange - pregnancy doesn't add her much beauty, but he still feels attracted. Gee.... If she only knew...
But he needs to stop thinking of her like that, and focus on work and the baby. He was alone since she left him, no single girlfriend, no one-timers. He wanted her, but he was very careful. Keeping himself in his tracks was helping him to think clearly. So living together- yes, sleeping in the same bed- not really. He'd have the feeling of using her for one purpose, and he didn't want that. She was a real woman for him now. Carrying his child. Shit, he still couldn't believe it. It was like his worst nightmare. He felt bad about these thoughts, but it was true. He still doesn't want this to happen. He doesnt want to be a father. He would like to wake up and be still her partner, engaged, not thinking about this... situation. But it's true. In 5 months the child is gonna be born and he'll have to take care of it. He knew from the very beginning the day will come, but he didn't know it will be so fast...
He thought that whenever his wife wants a baby, she will love it for both of them, and he won't have to. But as an unwanted visitor, the child is a trouble from the very beginning.
And to all of this troubles- Natalia... Shit. He was ready to do it. There in the club, with all these people around . Why? He didn't know. Alcohol maybe? But he remembers it very well. So what then? Loneliness? It would be a disaster in this situation, especially he didn't remember to have any precautions. It's not that he liked her so much, or was attrected to her.She wasn't even his type. However, she was pretty and really attractive. Hooking up on her was just...easy. Just like the flick of flingers. No strings attached. He wouldn't be able to look Courtney in the eyes, so he was actually happy Calleigh came into it. He was very grateful she didn't mention it even once since then...
'Tim? "Courtney called him from the room
"Yeah, I'm coming" he was grateful for the cold water he' s just poured on himself. Then he stepped out.
