Taylor's POV

After entering the sports center, we went to mini golf first. It was the perfect cliche story of how the guy is winning, but then the guy helps the girl out by wrapping his arms around the girl and helping guide her while she putts. They lock eyes and end up getting the ball in, and then the guy still wins but neither of them cares because it was so romantic.

SIKE!

I beat him so bad! It wasn't even a challenge. Oh boy, the look on his face when I got a hole in one on the first hole was PRICELESS.

When I said I loved the sports center, I meant it. I've been here so many times with Charlie and Hunter. All three of us being super competitive, it's come to the point that we've had certain areas that we're best at. I'm best at minigolf, Hunter is the best at the arcade games, and Charlie is the best at laser tag. Alex will surely find one that he's good at, but it won't be minigolf I can tell you that.

"Would you even try to believe me if I say I let you win?" Asks Alex, clearly embarrassed from losing so badly.

"Nope, except your defeat," I smirk at him.

"Well, in my defense, I'm not used to going to places like this."

"Excuses excuses," I tease.

"Fine, maybe I'll be better in the next activity," he says more to himself than to me.

"Which is?"

He pauses as if it was for dramatic effect.

"Laser tag."

"Interesting, maybe you will be better at this one. But I doubt it."

He pouts at me.

"Oh come on! You know what, I'm gonna prove it to you," he says confidently.

"Are you really? Well now's your chance," I say pointing ahead of us. We are approaching the entrance for laser tag.

The workers put us and the other kids into teams, Alex is put on mine. I'm not sure how to feel about that. On the one hand, I'm glad he's on my team, on the other, I was looking forward to targeting him the entire game.

After watching a short instructional video on how to play, the workers give us our vests and our guns. The bell sounds indicating that the game begins. Alex and I move over to an area near the wall and hide behind a plastic rock.

"So um, fare warning, I have no idea what I'm doing," he says.

"It's simple, we hide here for a bit-" I hear footsteps, peek over the rock with my gun in hand and shoot the kid that was sneaking over to us, she runs away.

"-and shoot people," I finish. He looks at me and scoffs as if he were saying, "show off." I just smile arrogantly at him.

"How about we just sneak over to them?" He provides.

"Living on the edge, are we? Fine, let's go."

We both get up and check to see if the coast is clear, we both move from rock to rock slowly making our way to their base.

"WHO'S THERE?!" Some kid calls out. I jump over to the nearest rock to the right, Alex goes to the one behind me.

"Come on out!" Another kid calls out. There must be two of them.

I peek over the side and see that they're walking towards me from both sides of the rock. They're gonna find me. Well shit, what now?

I look back to Alex for help, but he's nowhere to be found. Did he seriously leave me?! I guess I'm on my own.
