Gradually, a smile starts to transform my features into one of delight.
"Are you being serious?" I ask in a small voice.
"Absolutely." He grins back, whispering now. "So how about it? Be my girlfriend?"
"Absolutely." I copy, smirking a little.
With a sudden movement, he has me on my feet from a flick of his wrist.
"Hey–" I start, but as I'm laughing so hard the sentence goes nowhere. "John!" I try again, but get cut off as he spins me around. My hair flies out of its band, and the normally brown strands glimmer gold in the sun as he spins me. A long few seconds later, he pulls me in with a massive hug and a smile that makes him look like he's beside himself with happiness. He tips his head back to laugh a hearty laugh when I lean into him, dizzy.
"I've never heard you laugh like this before." I giggle, looking up at him with adoration probably in my eyes.
"You," he grins, "You make me like this."
"Because I'm funny, and gorgeous, and you love me." I explain to him cheekily.
"I'd love to disagree, but I can't because all those things are very true." He says slowly into my ear. It gives me shivers.
"I can't believe we're dating and I met you just a few weeks ago." I say genuinely.
He looks away in the distance for a while, thinking. "A month ago." He laughs. "We met exactly a month ago!"
"Thats ironic." I snort.
"I hate to admit it, but we owe Lauren for seating us next to eachother." He adds as we begin to walk in a random direction with our hands linked.
"I guess we do." I reply, and we walk in a comfortable silence for a while.
"It's really hot today." He begins to say, running a hand through his hair.
"I know!" I agree. "I wish I could go swimming."
"We could." He grins stupidly, cocking an eyebrow at me as I turn to him.
Biting my lip, I laugh. "The thing is, you're right– because I'm wearing spanks and a sports bra under my clothes."
"Coincidentally, I have shorts in my car."
"A shirt?" I question.
"No," he laughs, "But I'm sure I can go without."
"Lets do it then." I giggle back, adrenaline fizzing through my veins at the thought of doing something reckless. I unlace my converse and step out of my miniskirt, watching him as he pulls off his shirt. Holy fuck he's ripped, and tan– making me feel like a matchstick in comparison. I turn away, about to pull off my sweater, but he does it from behind for me.
