"You'll never have to be alone anymore."

----

Rachel didn't say anything, silence filled the stall once again.
Quinn quietly stroked the back of the brunette's hair in an attempt to keep Rachel calmed down, although she'll admit it calmed down herself more.

"Rachel. Please say something."

Quinn's soft voice sounded all but desperate as she tried, once again, to get an answer from the brunette. All she got was the feeling of Rachel's hand gripping her shirt a little harder, and the brunette burying herself into Quinn a little more. A shiver went down the blonde's spine with the touch, but she forced herself to forget about that for now, just- just concentrate on getting Rachel to talk, she thought.

"Rachel..."

Then it happened.
The brunette's head slowly moved up, gearing towards Quinn's impatient but severely nervous eyes, all the while breathing heavily. Much to Quinn's surprise, she took the blonde's hand in her own, a soft tear trailing down her cheek gracefully.

"I don't know why I keep trying anymore, Quinn."

---

It's almost like she didn't truly believed it happened. Which she- well, didn't.

Because Quinn Fabray of all people, had come after her, looked after her, wanted to make sure she felt okay.

Is this even real life?!

Rachel shook her head violently, trying to place her attention back on Mr. Schue's horrible explanation of yet another a Spanish verb, but her mind was playing tricks with her once again.

She's just using you, she wants to get even higher on that damn wobbly social ladder here at McKinley, she's just planning another horrific attack on your feelings.

That's what the brunette's head screamed at her, begging for her to just forget about these damn feelings and give in to the urge- the horrible urge- to cut.

Cutting, it had become a regular occurrence in the diva's life. It made her feel like she was in control of something, she was winning the game instead of losing it because she was playing it on her own. But in reality, that's what hurt Rachel the most.

Nobody cares, they never did and they never will. My fathers, they try. When i get home from school, they ask me how my day was, when i don't answer, or maybe sputter out an obvious like they assume i'm just tired from another day of crucial learning experiences.
My friends, or well, are they even my friends, wouldn't even pretend to ever care. They see me as a thorn in their eye, an obstacle on the road.

But Rachel's heart screamed something entirely different, this was the real deal.
The brunette pressed her lips together, memories of that horrifying day flooding back in tidal waves. The urge had been really bad, and pinching her arm until blood would eventually seep out just wouldn't do the trick anymore. So, she told the teacher she wasn't feeling well and immediately went for the first bathroom in sight. She knew she would run out of time, cutting wouldn't be an option anymore.

So, she scried. She cried, and she prayed for a solution. A solution the would end this horrible mess that was quickly turning the, usually chirpy and excited, brunette's life upside down.

The girl still needed an outlet, though, so she chose the easiest way to get her anger out.

Finn.

"C'mon, Rachel, pay attention."

Mr. Schue's attempt at being strict towards her failed miserably, a giggle quickly bubbled in Rachel's throat. She swallowed in down, knowing this wouldn't be the right moment to piss him off.

When the bell rang, the diva couldn't help but practically run out of class, desperate for her one fix. As her locker sprung open, a small smile formed on Rachel's face at the sight of her small, glistening raiser blade. She was about to grab it and make a move for the girls bathroom, but a soft tap on her shoulder stopped her movements. Rachel quickly slammed her locker shut with the hope that she didn't just get busted by a glee member, or even worse. But when she turned around, standing in front of her was Quinn Fabray. Quinn Fabray, with a soft look on her face, none of the usual malice to be found in her gaze towards Rachel.

"Um, hi, Quinn. I'm sure you must be having a splendid day, could I help you with something?"

Quinn pressed her lips together before taking a little looser position, eyes glued to Rachel's.

"No... I just wanted to make sure you're, ya know- doing okay and stuff."

That sweet, smooth voice sounded like actual music to Rachel's voice, especially when even sweeter words were coming out if it. The diva swallowed once, before smiling politely at the obviously nervous brunette.

"I'm trying. I really am."

The gracious smile fell from Rachel's lip at the realization of her words, knowing that they were so much more true than they were supposed to be. It's like the blonde noticed her sudden change in demeanor, she tentatively placed her hand on Rachel's shoulder.

"Well, I just wanted to make sure you knew that- that I'm always available to talk. Yeah."

If Rachel hadn't melted before, she certainly did right that moment. Quinn wasn't supposed to be this nice, she wasn't supposed to help her. Everybody had always left her alone, or just plainly ignored her every move, why would that suddenly change now?

"I appreciate you trying, Quinn, but you can stop now. I know nobody cares about me."

Rachel walked away as soon as she spoke that last word, careful about not letting a single tear slip in front of Quinn.

Quinn stared after Rachel. It was going to be one hell of a ride to try and convince Rachel that she's worth it, but she would take that challenge. Rachel Berry was going to have a friend from now on, Quinn was sure of it.
