Jack's P.O.V

7:01

I shouldn't be up.
It's too early.
The world isn't even awake yet.
At least for me it wasn't.

The curtains were drawn, but the bathroom light was still on, must've been Val.

I looked over to see her, curled up by my side. Her hair covering her face which was unusual since she would braid it back before bed.

I liked watching her while she stood in front of the mirror, her hands swiftly putting pieces of hair over another.

I scooter closer to her and wrapped my arms around her.
Her hand clutched onto the fabric of my T-shirt.
I loved the warmth that was constantly radiating off of her.
Our sore bodies clutching onto each other.
The bruises now visible, blue and purple colors splashed into our skin. Sensitive to the touch, but when we were together they were forgotten.
I gently moved her hair out of her face.
I let my hand rest against her cheek.
Her smooth skin against my own rough hands.
Holding Val in my arms helped me fall back asleep.

Val's P.O.V

8:09

I gave Jack a poke on his cheek as I waited for him to wake up.
I knew he was up a little while earlier, but I had drifted off before he had notice. At least I think so.

His arm fell from my waist and he rubbed his face, waking himself up.
He looked towards me with that goofy, tired smile and I couldn't help but giving him one in return.

"Mornin'. " His voice, raspy.

I let out a quiet chuckle.

The moment would've been a lot better if he would've kept his mouth shut.

"What happened between you and Devin?"

"What?"

"I need to you to tell me. Talk to me."

I let out a hesitant laugh.
Half annoyed, half 'what the fuck is going on' kinda laugh.

I sat up.
I scooted over and crossed my legs.
I fiddled with my hands, chipping off the old nail polish.

"A lot happened between Devin and I."

He didn't say anything.
He was listening.

I groaned, "I don't know what you want me to say, Jack."

"The truth."
