❝nothing has changed,
he is the same.❞

finn smiled as he twisted ava's knotted hair in his fingers.

he felt odd. he didn't want to leave. he wanted to stay with ava and not see anyone else.

what was she doing to him? he thought about it, why was this so different? it wasn't, but why did ava have such a different effect on him?

finn thought about this, a little too much, his thoughts going a little too deep. his breathing became heavy and sharp. he felt like ava was changing him into an unfamiliar guy. he didn't know how to be the unfamiliar guy he was becoming. he was panicking. "fuck, fuck, fuck," he mumbled.

he got up, his shaky hands gathering his clothes from the day before and messily throwing them on.

his phone clutched tightly in his hand, subconsciously clicking the volume buttons. he turned over his phone and clicked the home button in search of the time, ignoring all the notifications below it. two o'clock.

he looked at ava, digging his fingernails into his palms as he slipped into a further panic. when he simply looked at ava his stomach became fluttery and he just wanted her. to talk to her and hug her.

it was something he didn't know, and that scared him. he rushed out of her room, then out of her house.

jackson, who had come home late the previous night, woke at the loud footsteps outside of his bedroom. rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he glanced out the window after hearing the front door. the curly dark hair, alone gave away who had just left their house, and what had most likely happened while he was there.

"ava?" he asked softly, creeping into her room to see her fast asleep in her bed, sheets messily across her. "ava."

"wha-" she mumbled as she woke up to no one beside her. "fuck," she put her head in her hands. "i can't even be mad at him, jackson. i knew exactly what would happen. i knew. but i let him trick me. and it hurts so much more than i thought," she said, breaking into tears.

jackson subconsciously came to ava's side, hugging her for comfort. ever since they were kids ava had been a sensitive girl, jackson often has to choose his words carefully to protect ava's feelings. so this? he knew she'd be unbelievably hurt.

and for hours, they stayed there. tears slowly sliding down her face for a while until she had begun staring into space. that was the other thing jackson learned about ava. she was never really mad with someone. she was more hurt with the smallest things someone did.

"i'll make something to eat, okay? it'll make you feel better," jackson said.

"i don't think i want to eat anything, jackson," she sighed.

"you will!!" he laughed as he hopped down the stairs, thinking of a food she'd most definitely want to eat. "eggos?"

"..yeah, sure," she laughed weakly, knowing the relation to the show finn just happened to be in.

"they'll be done in like seven minutes!"

"you can't keep them in the toaster for seven minutes!" she laughed.

"i know that! just wait!"

ava laughed, throwing her hands up in surrender, despite the fact that no one was there to see it.

her eyes caught the dark adidas sweater he had apparently left there. she sighed and took it into her hand, his strong cologne obvious as she picked it up, balling it up into her hands and pressing it into her chest. for a reason she didn't know.

"ava!" jackson startled her. "it's ready!"

"it hasn't been that long yet, has it?" she asked, only recalling maybe thirty seconds.

"yeah, yeah, i took a little longer, whatever," he said. "just come on!"

ava furrowed her brows in confusion but shook it away as she wiped away a stray tear that had suddenly made a reappearance and hesitated, but put on the sweatshirt before dragging herself down the stairs.

"when'd you get that sweater?" jackson questioned from in the kitchen.

"dunno," she mumbled, slumping onto the couch and pulling a pillow up to her chest.

"whatever," he shook his head before bringing out a large plate of waffles with a swirl of whipped cream and chocolate syrup.

"are you kidding me, jackson?" she said, putting on a weak smirk and taking the heavy plate and sluggishly digging into it.

"it's good though, right?" he smirked digging into his own as finn suddenly sent her a snapchat, a text message and tried to call her in a matter of moments. she simply ignored it and moved on with her eggos.

"mhm," she mumbled, pulling out her phone and opening snapchat to check her stories. she furrowed her brows in confusion as she noticed audrey had posted something odd to her story.

she clicked on it and felt her eyes sting at what she had posted. a guy laying on his bed, bright red scratches over his back, a heart emoji in the top right corner of the screen.

confused, she swiped out from audrey's story. she was only confused because this was something big for audrey. but ava had received nothing, no nervous questions or excited texts like she usually got. even if they had just had a fight.

she shook it off, though. it wouldn't've made sense if she did. things move fast, even if there must've been some sort of lead up to it. she wiped away another tear she hadn't realized she shed while quickly looking through all of her snapchat. she quickly pinched the screen to go to the 'snapmap'.

her heart dropped at the sight of where audrey's ridiculous bitmoji was.

she was at finn's house.
