"Hey! Anyone home?" Jess yelled into the house.
"Who is that?" I asked mom.
"Oh, did I forget to mention Jess is in town and Luke invite him to come for dinner." She said raising her hands in protection.
I all but ran out of the room and caught Jess before he made it to far into the house. I could just hear the lecture coming as soon as he saw Logan sitting at the kitchen table eating dinner with our daughter. Jess was great enough to offer to stick around and help with Logan when he found out I was pregnant, and he understood why I didn't want to say anything to him. I declined though. I didn't want him to be tied down to a child that wasn't his and he didn't want kids anyway. On top of that though, I didn't feel that way about him. He was working on another book at the time too and he needed to focus on that.
So instead he had been there for her in more of an Uncle capacity. He even dropped what he was doing to come to the hospital. So I knew exactly what would happen if he saw Logan in the kitchen.
"Jess!" I said coming down the stairs.
"Rory. How are things?" He asked giving me a side-hug.
"Things are good." I said. "Hey, can I talk to you for a --" I started to say before my daughter ran down the hall squealing.
"Uncle Jess!" She said running into Jess's open arms.
"Hey midget. How are ya?" He asked picking her up.
"Good. Grandpa brought lots of food and mommy's friend joined us for dinner." She said as Logan walked into the room.
Logan didn't look to pleased with the fact that Jess had his daughter in his arms, and Jess's face was pretty unreadable. I could feel the color start to drain from my face.
"Jess..." I said.
"Well, well. If it isn't it the blonde dick from Yale." He said setting Logan back on the ground.
"If it isn't the writer. Write anymore books lately?" Logan said cocking his head to the side.
"As a matter of fact I have. Where do I send them now?" Jess snapped back.
"Wow, insert bed joke here." Mom said, coming down the stairs.
"Rory? What is this guy doing here?" Jess said, motioning toward Logan but looking at me with accusatory eyes.
"Can we please go outside and talk." I said.
Jess took one more look at Logan and then made his way out the front door.
"Ace?" Logan asked. He knew we were going to face some backlash about this, on all sides. This though was not was I was expecting tonight. What a way to end our time together before he had to go back to London.
"It's fine." I said holding up my hands. "I'll be right back."
"Mommy. What's going on? Why is Uncle Jess so mad?" Logan said pulling on my hand.
"It's nothing honey. You just go back to the kitchen with Logan okay." I said.
"Okay..." She said.

Logan:
I couldn't believe that guy was holding my kid. Here I was, trying to get to know her and he waltz's in and takes her away. What a night this was turning into. All I could think about doing was punching him in the face, but I had to keep things in check. Last thing I wanted to do was upset my little girl. I'd just have to wait until later to talk to Ace, because I was not okay with this.
"Well, well. If it isn't the blonde dick from Yale." He said, putting my daughter on the ground. Good, I wanted her as far away from him as possible. I was her father not him.
"If it isn't the writer. Write anymore books lately?" I shot back at him.
"As a matter of fact, I did. Where do I send them now?" He said mockingly.
How could Rory not tell me that he was going to be here tonight. Lorelei came down the stairs and said something, but at this point everything sounded so far away. I was fuming inside.
"Rory. What is this guy doing here?" He barked at Rory.
I have a right to be here! This is my family. My daughter! That woman is the love of my life. And I would have been here from day one if I would have known! I thought to myself. Man if i could just have two minutes alone with that guy.
"Can we please go outside and talk?" She asked him. What did she want to talk to him about? This was none of his business.
He threw daggers at me one more time then walked out of the room and Rory started to follow.
"Ace?" I said confused and hurt. But she put up her hands.
"It's fine. I'll be right back." She said and then set our daughter back over to me.
Fine? None of this was fine.
