Rory:
We followed behind the same hostess who checked us in just a few minutes earlier. I looked around as we walked through the building, trying to stay as calm as I could. Which wan't as easy as I was hoping.
I wasn't used to being in places like this. I mean the last time I was in a building this fancy was before Logan was born, since then I stayed closer to home or visiting grandma's place in Nantucket.
"Your server with be with you in just a few moments." She said after we had sat down.
The room was beautiful but understated. Dark wood walls and pillars, with golds and oranges thrown in for color. We were seated in a corner booth that looked out onto the rest of the dining room.
"So what have you been up to the past four years?" I asked Logan, not really sure where else to star
"Well, that's a lot of time to cover." He said with a laugh. "How much time do we have."
"I'm sorry." I said with a small smile. "I just figured I should say something. Break the ice."
"We've been doing so good all night too." He said. c
"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. I mean it's none of my business really. Plus with starting over and everything--" I said babbling.
"Rory, it's fine." Logan said cutting me off. "Honestly, nothing big has really happened on my end. I've been working at HPG, doing business trips here and there, and meeting up with the guys when I have the chance..." He said, avoiding the one thing he thought I didn't want to hear.
"Logan, it's fine. You can tell me you've dated. Hell, here I thought you've been married remember?" I replied.
"Yeah, well there's been someone here or there, but nothing ever serious." He said, picking up a menu.
"Hello, welcome to Charlie Palmer. Have we dined here before?" The waiter said.
"No." Logan replied. "First time."
"Well then, welcome. I could give you the run down if you're interested." He continued as he opened the bottle of sparkling water on the table and poured it into the water glasses in front of u.
"The would be great." Logan said, answering his question.
"Okay. Well you have the option of dinning from our set menu. It's a four course menu including dessert. It starts with a Seared Ahi Tuna, the second course is a Wild Strip Bass and the third course would be a Prime Rib dish. You would finish your meal off with our signature Olive Oil Cake." The waiter said, the he continued. "Or you have the option of ordering off our regular menu. The oysters are one of our best sellers and then you can't go wrong with any of our steaks."
"Thank you. I think we just need a minute to think it over." He said. "But for now, I'll have a Macallan neat, and for you Ace?"
"Oh, um. I'll have a martini." I said.
"Okay, I'll go grab those from the bar and give you two a moment." He said and then walked off.
"He sure knows his stuff." I said, looking down at the menu.
"I'd hope so Ace." Logan said with a chuckle. In a place this nice the staff needs to be on their game. "So what do you think?"
"I think the set menu sounds good. I've never had Olive Oil Cake before." I said setting the menu down.
"Me neither." Logan said, looking at me from across the table.
The waiter came back with our drinks and we told him we would be doing the four course menu.
