Now from what I hear about Grammy Gray and having met the woman, I have learned one thing about this woman. She is freaking crazy but hilarious. I'm still trying to get over the fact that Nash's full name is Nashville. Where the heck did they come up with that one?
I started to feel better after a few days. The swelling had gone down, and I still had remnants of black eyes.
"Maggie!" I heard Pat call.
"Yeah?"
"Come on! Lucille wants to take us girls out," she yelled.
Out? Out where?
I threw my shoes on and came downstairs.
"Is this a good idea?" Cayson asked Nate.
"It's ma. Is anything she does a good idea?"
"He's got the point," Jonas said.
"You boys hush. I'm seventy years old and capable of taking my lovely daughters-in-law out, well two of my lovely daughters-in-law out," she smirked, looking at Karen, who was fidgeting. There was no loss of love between Grammy and Karen.
"I still think this is a bad idea," Cayson warned them.
"Cayson, your dirty diapers were a bad idea, but you don't see me being a Debbie downer, now do you?"
I couldn't help but laugh. The family looked at me. What? It was fun.
We left and got into a car. Grammy Gray got behind the wheel.
"Lucille, where are you taking us?" Pat asked her.
"To go have fun, where else?" She winked and smiled. With that, she peeled out of there. Oh god, we will die.
No one told me this woman is a lunatic behind the wheel. I don't even think she paid attention as she drove, going way over the speed limit. But apparently, a cop was paying attention as we noticed red and blue lights flashing in the mirror along with a siren.
She slowed down and pulled over. Then what she did next blew my mind. She reached over to the glove box and opened it. She pulled out a tube of lipstick, shutting the glove box and applying cherry red lipstick to her lips, fixing her hair and pushing up her bosoms.
Karen, Dominique, and I sat in the back, watching all this happen. The police officer walked up to the driver's side and leaned over the car door frame.
"Ma'am, you know why I pulled you over?"
"Why no sir, I don't," she said, fluttering her eyelashes.
"You were doing seventy in a forty-five," he said to her.
"Oh, was I? Oh, dear, I did not understand. I do sincerely apologize, officer." She leaned over, showing her cleavage to him and started playing with his tie. "My friend in the back had been badly injured. I was trying to take her to the emergency room."
"How was she injured?" He questioned her.
"Well, you see this enormous fruit flew and smacked her right in the schnozzle," she smiled sweetly at him. He looked at me, seeing the black eyes and bandaid over my nose.
"Sorry to hear that," he said to me. I shrugged.
"So, as you can see, we don't know when her nose is just going to bleed profusely again, you know, like when Aunt Flo comes to visit," she winked at him.
He stepped back. "Say no more, ma'am. Just slow it down the next time."
"No problem," she smiled. The officer walked back to his squad car. Before he had time to get into his vehicle, she peeled out of there. I swear she will get us arrested.
