Finally the Riders were ready, and they flew off leaving Dragon's Edge. Hiccup had made a map of where the island is, so they followed the map until Wingmaiden Island was clear.
The island was beautifully decorated. Banners hung on wooden poles. Colorful lanterns were hung. It was a beautiful sight, and happiness is in the air.
The Riders finally landed. They were greeted happily by Atali and she told them where to place their Dragons. "Thank you for accepting our invitation," she said, smiling. She then notices Dagur. "Welcome to our island. May I ask who you are?"
"My name's Dagur," he said quickly. Atali smiled. "Alright, follow me to place your Dragons." She gestured them to follow her.
After the Riders placed their Dragons in a pen to refresh them, they explored the island to see the beauty of the decorations. The Wingmaidens waved, greeted, and smiled happily at them.
After they admired the decorations, Atali came over to inform them that the celebration will start in the afternoon.
"Good," said Astrid. "We could do things here while waiting."
"Hey Tuff, wanna check out the boar pit?" asked Ruffnut. "Yeah!" yelled Tuffnut, punching the air. "I am so in the mood!"
Dagur, Heather, and Fishlegs decided to fly above the island but stayed away from the Razorwhip nesting grounds, while Hiccup and Astrid wanted to check out the hatchlings.
"Urgh," groaned Snotlout, "I'm stuck with the Twins now." Then he slouched down to the boar pit.
Hiccup and Astrid walked over to Atali. "Can we see the hatchlings?" asked Hiccup. "I'm afraid not," replied Atali. "We will show the hatchlings at the celebration."
"Hmm, sad." said Astrid after they thanked Atali and walked away. "I really wanted to see those guys."
"Then let's take a ride with Heather, Fishlegs, and Dagur," said Hiccup. "I'd like to scout around the island to make sure everything's okay."
The two mounted their Dragons and flew, Hiccup enjoying the cool breeze on his face whipping his brown hair. He spotted Heather and the others up ahead. Toothless and Stormfly sped up and caught up.
"Hi," said Hiccup. They turned around, and Hiccup noticed that the Twins and Snotlout were there too, the Twins covered in mud.
"Hey, Brother!" called out Dagur. "I never knew this place is amazing!" Heather giggled. "That's because you're new here," she said. "Anyway, how are the hatchlings?"
"We're not allowed to see them yet," said Astrid. "They're gonna show them at the celebration."
"I can't wait!" squealed Fishlegs. Heather giggled again.
"Let's scout the island, it's noon already. We need to make sure the island is secure and the celebration uninterrupted."
--Somebody's POV--
"It's ready."
I turned around. "Good," I said. "You two will have to make it in eight minutes and hide. This ship will be hidden within view." Then the two men hopped onto the raft and sailed.
It will succeed.
--Normal POV (third person)--
"A few more minutes!" said Fishlegs, overly enthusiastic.
"Then let's get ready," said Hiccup, standing up from the barrel he was sitting on. "The island is secure, hopefully the celebration is uninterrupted."
"Haha! I don't think we're ever right on that!" said Snotlout, laughing.
"Don't. Push. It." said Astrid in a warning tone.
"Can we please just go?" said Hiccup exsasperatedly, drooping his arms.
--time skip I'm kinda lazy :v--
"The celebration is about to begin!" called Atali. Wingmaidens started to rise and landed to a clear space. The Riders mounted their Dragons and did the same.
Atali started saying welcomes and thank yous. "There will be 32 hatchlings this year," she informed. "Please welcome our newest Razorwhip hatchlings!"
"Aww!"
Razorwhip hatchlings started walking forward onto stage, slipping and stumbling in a cute way. A Wingmaiden stood beside the Razorwhip line, counting.
There were buzzings of noise as the crowd chatted happily. Suddenly, Hiccup noticed the counting Wingmaiden's eye widen. She started to stutter.
Atali noticed her. "What's wrong?" she asked. "The Razorwhips... there are only 31!"
The crowd gasped. "Search the back of the stage! It's a hatchling, it might've wandered off!"
The crowd scattered. "Gang," said Hiccup. "Let's search from above." Astrid looked confused. "Hiccup, it's nearly dusk. There's no way to look for it from above, it's too dark!"
"No, I meant search around the edges of this island! There might be Dragon Hunters..."
"That can't be, they don't know where this place is!" said Fishlegs.
"Unless they were following us all along! They watched us fly straight north, and we didn't see them under the fog!"
"Right! Mount your Dragons everybody! We're gonna search the island! Let the Wingmaidens look for the hatchling down there."
