Upon completion of Fort Mills Military School and Weiss Police Academy, Sasha Mercado begin her first day an official member of the Hollywood Hills Police Force with a bang. Today marked Partner day. Every new rookie had to be assigned to a partner. Some were paired rookie with rookie, rookie with pro, or rookie with veteran. As each rookie named were called and placed with a partner. Only three were paired with a pro, while the others were a paired with another rookie from the previous class. No one had been paired with an veteran as of yet and it almost seemed that no one would, but something happened. “Officer Sasha Mercado would you please step forward?” Lieutenant Fred Armstrong said. Sasha walked forward with her head held

high and her eyes steady. Lieutenant Armstrong continued. “You’ll be paired with… Aaron Cunnington.” Several rookies from her class gasped. “Hey Sasha,” Donald Fields said. “You hit the jackpot.” “What do you mean?” Sasha said.

Donald’s eyes widened. “You don’t know? Your partner is from the Cunnington clan. Every person in that family either has a Military or Law background, and you’re paired with one that have both. Let alone, he’s a veteran so he knows his job and you can learn a lot from him.” Donald continued on, “But word of advice: Don’t make him angry. I know you can handle yourself well Sasha, but this is a different kind of Ball Park. This is the real deal and we being rookies, should try

to make an impression on our partners especially if they’re a pro or veteran.” “Thanks for the advice Donald,” Sasha said patting his shoulder. “I’ll remember it in the future.” Donald nodded before disappearing into the crowd. Sasha sighed as she went to get some fresh air. Moist humid air and cobblestone puddles is what’s left of last night’s storm. Sasha stood in the slight shady part of the canopy listening as passing cars sped by and tourists mingled with one another. A smile crept her lips as another figure loomed over her. Turning, she noticed their features. Six foot-six inches tall with eyes slightly slanted that glittered hazel with shades of blue and green. Lips thin and straight with nose slightly pointed and eyebrows thick and arched. Skin tan, silk and creamy like cocoa butter. Shoulders and chest broad and covered with lean ripped muscles. He was dressed in jeans and sneakers and he wore a T-shirt with the words: HOLLYWOOD’S FINEST plastered over his massive frame. He glared down as if she was something to eat. “So, you’re the infamous Sasha Mercado?” he said. Sasha choked on her breath. “And how do you know who I am?” “I’m quite sure you’re the young woman that literally sent Adrienne Peters almost to her deathbed.” He said. Sasha noticed that he didn’t show any signs of amusement. “Say what you want,” Sasha said shrugging. “She got a justified ass whooping that’s all.” “And out of all people,” he said shaking his head. “You were chosen as my partner.” Sasha’s breath felt as if it froze in her lungs. She couldn’t believe the words that came from his mouth just now ‘You were chosen as my

partner’ he had said. She stared at him in confusion and then it hit her like a brick. She gasped covering her mouth. Her eyes widening as realization dawned on her. “You’re Aaron

Cunnington.” “Took you long enough to figure it out.” “Well how was I supposed to know who you were?” Sasha said. “You didn’t give any hints until now.” Aaron stared at her. “Someone’s in bad shape.” He said a grin crept his lips. “What’s the matter? Had a recent break-up? Don’t feel bad. It wasn’t his fault.” Sasha couldn’t believe what she just heard. “You’re one obnoxious jerk, you know that?” “Thanks, I’ll take that as a compliment.” He said turning on his heel walking back to where he had come from. Sasha’s mouth dropped. Irritated, she turned walking back to the station, when she heard someone calling her. Turning, she stared at him. “What the hell do you want now?” “Come with me.” He said. “Come with you where?” Sasha said. Aaron laughed walking towards her with long quick strides. “It’s almost lunchtime and I’m starving and I know you are too.” Sasha felt her stomach growl. She already missed breakfast; she’ll be damn if she miss lunch. Sighing she looked at him with bright eyes. “Fine then, where too?” Aaron grinned, “Come, I’ll show you.”
