I was able to sleep over Payton's house over the weekend. "Are you sure you've been feeling alright?" Payton asked when we were up in her room. I was staring at The polka dots on her wall. "Sky?" She asked and got my attention. "Hm?" I asked. "Are you OK?" She asked again. "Um..." I was so afraid to tell her. What if she told Lily? I was dead. But if I didn't tell her, I would be in misery the rest of my long life. I decided not to tell her. "Yeah, I'm OK, just sometimes I get a little light headed since my incident."

She seemed fine after we talked a while and played truth or dare. " So, you like any guys yet?" I asked. She hesitated. Then she smiled at me, and said, "well, I do kinda like Derek." I scrunched my nose. "Derek Canaan?" "No, Derek Anderson." She smiled, and did that distant look. I smiled. They would look good together.

The next day, we went to Dan's Diner. Then, she saw Derek. She looked like she was gonna faint. I took her arm and walked with her past her crush. To our luck, we sat right behind him. She was trying to keep cool, I could tell, but it wasn't going very well. Kathy went to go to the bathroom. Derek turned around and saw us. "Hey Sky, hey Payton." "Hahaha hi D-Derek." Payton said, shaking, trying to act cool. Then he got up to leave. "Check ya later." He said.

"HE KNOWS MY NAME!!!! Payton said. She was so happy. I was happy for her too. It felt like the right thing to do anyways.

I went home after that. I think Payton was dialing Lily's number anyway. I didn't want to be part of that. I walked in and sat down by the door. Mom wasn't home. I went over to the cabinet and pulled out nutella, then went and got a spoon. I sat on the couch. I wish I had told her. But what can I do?
