Seventeen years later in Columbus High, a group of teenagers sits in a science class, Nathan with short brown hair that flowed to his ears sat in the middle of the classroom. He wore a Blue Swede shirt, blue jeans, and a sweater. At his desk, he had a notebook, a pencil, and a notebook with his backpack hanging off of his chair. As the teacher, Miss. Rebel talks in front of class teaching. Nathan and his friend, Andy Rod, whisper in the back, Andy hands him a walkman player and headphones. Andy was a very funny kid with enough energy to run the entire track field and still have breath for a race, he was known as the class clown. But Andy seemed to always get work done on time or even early. Andy begins talking.

Andy Rod- "Hey, happy seventeenth birthday Nate. I got you this last night. Hey, what are you doing after school?"

Nathan takes the player and hooks it to his pants, he places the headphones around his neck and continues listening to Miss. Rebel gives lectures on facts about the desert and the fun with sand. Andy sits back up as Nathan shrugs and sits up. Miss. Rebel was a fairly young teacher for her job, she was a graduate of MIT at twenty-two years of age, and it surprised Nathan and Andy that she was a teacher at all. She has a bachelor's degree in Science and Math. Miss. Rebel turns around and looks at the class while still speaking.

Miss. Rebel- "Oh and one more thing before class is out for the rest of your lives (Chuckles). Everyone say happy birthday to Mr. Jones (Points at Nathan) there."

Everyone turned around and said happy birthday to Nathan, he smiled, some people patted his back with happiness. As the bell rang everyone begins standing up while placing their books and binders in their backpacks. Miss. Rebel begins talking again while some people leave.

Miss. Rebel- "Okay guys, I'll see you at graduation tomorrow. Be fully awake and ready."

Nathan and Andy are the last ones to leave, as they were finishing writing down notes, they were always the last to leave the classroom. They close their binders and notebooks and stand up, they begin packing their backpacks and started heading towards the door when Miss. Rebel begins talking to them.

Miss. Rebel- "Mr. Jones, Mr. Rod. Good job this year, did you know you were the only two in class who stayed at an A grade the whole year?"

Nathan and Andy begin walking up to her as she starts erasing the chalkboard. Andy sneezed as chalk was fell on his face. Nathan begins talking.

Nathan Jones- "I didn't know that. (Looking at Andy) Did you Andy?"

Andy looks at the chalkboard while he rubbed his nose, he looked Miss. Rebel then looks at Nathan. Andy looks at the clock before looking at Nathan again and speaking.

Andy Rod- "Hmm, what? What was I supposed to know? (Miss. Rebel smiles) Oh, I almost forgot."

Andy reaches into his pocket, he digs around for a little bit before pulling out a cassette tape. Some lint fell out of his pocket and falls to the floor. Miss. Rebel notices Nathan's Walkman player, as Andy hands Nathan the tape. Miss. Rebel looks back up at them then walks over to her desk and begins backing up her belongings, she grabbed a photo of a baby wrapped in a blanket. She made her way back to them with her bag in hand and stood there for a moment listening to the boys.

Andy Rod- "You can't have the player without the tape. (Thinks) Well, you can, but it won't work right."

Nathan and Andy begin chuckling as Miss. Rebel walks past them and makes her way to the door before stopping, she looks at them.

Miss. Rebel- "Nathan. (Nathan looks) Have a great summer."

Miss. Rebel leaves the room as Andy's jaw drops. They make their way to the door and look out it before Andy yells down the hallway.
