Scene 16 "Banished Building"

{Charred Hospital}

Pulling up to the parking lot at the old hospital, everyone gets out of the cars and looked at the top of the ten storied structure seeing a massive burnt X on the top two floors. Everyone looks at Andy in amazement except the chief, Andy looks at them with a bit of a smile.

Chief- (Frustrated) "So, you did this? The state had to raise taxes for this, because of you. You know that right?"

Andy Rod- (Looking at the Chief) "Sir, if you want us to save the city I recommend you back off of me. (Looks at the building) Who knows the city might drop taxes if we live."

Nathan Jones- (Looks at Andy) "That's the smartest thing I've ever heard you say."

Andy looks at Nathan as the Chief walks back to the car and the other officers. "Well boys, it's been an honor working with you." He said. Nathan, Megan, and Andy look at each other than to the building. Megan looks at Nathan and Andy.

Megan Topps- "Well boys, are you ready to die for our city?"

Nathan looks at her and Andy then back at Megan. He begins thinking for a moment, Nathan looks back at Megan.

Nathan Jones- "Well just in case we don't live. Megan, I love you."

Nathan turns Megan and kisses her, after a moment they stop and look at Andy who looked jealous. He looks Nathan in the eyes with sadness.

Andy Rod- (Sighs) "Nathan, I don't get one?"

Megan Topps- (Looks at Andy) "Hey back off, he's my man."

Andy Rod- (Looks at her with sadness) "Okay."

Nathan holds Megan while looking at him chuckling, Megan looks back at him. Nathan lets go of Megan and places the radio on his hip, as they turn and start walking towards the front of the hospital's lobby doors. As they enter the building they begin looking around the empty hospital for Psycho Sand and Henry. They make their way to the staircase, knowing the elevator would be out of power, they begin going up the stairs. They get to the sixth floor as Andy begins talking.

Andy Rod- "What if you guys get married? And have kids? What would you name them?"

Megan Topps- "Shut up Andy. Let's just get through this first, then we'll talk."

Andy Rod- "What? I'm just trying to lighten the mood a little. You know before we die."

As Andy continues talking Nathan in front of him tells him to shush, Andy asks why, as Nathan looks back in anger. He looks at Andy and begins arguing with him while Megan looks up and sees a shadow moving above them, she tries to warn Nathan. Nathan gets calm as he looks at her.

Nathan Jones- (Whispering) "What?"

Megan points over Nathan's head while whispering "Look.", Nathan and Andy look up seeing shadows moving very fast against the floors above them. Their gaze breaks as the staircase begin creaking below them, Nathan looks around as Megan and Andy hold onto the railing.

Nathan Jones- (Looking around while whispering to himself) "The sand, it's cutting through the metal of the stairs."

Andy Rod- (Looks at him) "What?"

Nathan Jones- (Looks at Andy) "I said the sand's cutting through the metal. Which means..."

As he's talking the staircase begins to shift away from the wall, he tells them to run to the next floor with a panic tone. Nathan runs with Megan and Andy close behind him, they run up the stairs to the next open door leading them to the third floor. As they run through the door a loud crash of metal is heard behind the door, they sit on the ground in the dark hospital they try to catch their breath. By Henry the echo of crashing metal is heard, Henry looks up with concern on his face. "Nathan?" He whispered under his breath. Back by Nathan, Andy, and Megan, Nathan stands up and looks down the now empty room with crushed and broken metal at the bottom. He turns around and looks at Megan and Andy.
