Heather's POV
I ran over the options in my head again and again. I could fake my death but they could blame Asgard. If I get Asgard to help somehow then I may still be stuck here. I could make a treaty then fake my death but Odin is not awake yet. I could always fake a treaty. Maybe I will do that. All I do all day is sit on the throne and tend to petty matters within our kingdom. Zachariah kept me company and he was actually a very nice guy.
"Do you remember when you were younger, we would sneak sweets from the dinner table and stuff them in our knife holders but the crumbs would fall out and lead Laufey straight to us?" he laughed. I nodded my head in equal laughter.
"Then you went into the army training facility and I faded to the shadows." I sighed.
"I had to leave, I didn't really want to. at least we are together now," he smiled grabbing my tiny hand. "You're so fragile" he said softly making circles on my hand with his thumb. I hate when people call me that but his grip was too tight to break free from. The throne room door swung open and Loki came in. he froze when he saw Zachariah had hold of my hand. His eyes turned to a dark, hard green and he scowled. Zachariah let go of my hand and stood in a defensive position.
"Leave us Zachariah," I commanded.
"But my queen, he could-"
"He could do nothing of any harm to me. I trust him." I cut him off. He gave Loki a warning look and walked out. "What are you doing here?" I asked with a smile.
"Just letting you know Odin has awakened and requested your presence whenever possible." He said in a monotone voice. He turned to leave with a nod of the head.
"Loki? why are you leaving so soon?" I questioned leaving my throne to go to him. His long legs easily outstretched my short ones.
"Back to Asgard," he sighed.
"Well can't you stay for a while?" he paused but shook his head. "Fine" I turned around and hurried off. I told Zachariah and my other guards that Odin wanted to speak to me and that I would return to them soon. The wanted to go with me but I refused. It was better if I went on my own, less of a threat. The bifrost took me up and I was standing in front of Heimdall in an instant.
"Hello old friend," I smiled. A small smile teased at his lips. Such a serious old fool.
"Hello princess," he bowed.
"Ew no, heather. no princess" I laughed. He chuckled and nodded his head.
"Your parents are waiting in the throne room. Loki left his horse for you, although he did seen a bit disgruntled." He informed me.
"Thank you my good man, I shall see you soon," I winked. I mounted loki's horse and rode to the palace stables and made my way to the throne room. I was greeted by a smothering hug from Frigga. Odin eyes me suspiciously probably because I was still in Jotun form. I became Asgardian once again and his face lit up.
"Heather? so it is true?" he asked in disbelief.
"Yes, it is I," I smiled. He took me at arms length and examined me before hugging me.
"My dear, how I have missed you," he said into my hair.
"I've missed you too father" I smiled. He let me go and looked over at Loki who hadn't looked up from his book since I entered.
"He worries me, especially after his little stunt with the bifrost. I'm worried he may try it again," Odin said under his breath so only I could hear.
"I believe in him father. he only wants to prove he is worthy. He did it for you," I sighed. "Anyway, I have been thinking. We should make a new treaty and once I introduce it to my people, I fake my death then I can come live here,"
"How would you fake your death?" he asked.
"I'm not sure, a fire maybe? brianna could help with that," I laughed. As if on queue she skipped into the room and hugged me, almost knocking me over. Thor followed behind her doing the same thing.
"Ugh you guys! you're gonna kill me!" I laughed.
"Well isn't that the plan?" Loki asked not looking up from his reading.
"Yes true, Brianna I will need your help for this. as long as my father is okay with this?" I asked. He nodded his head and smiled. We drafted a treaty stating no war, and assistance will be provided when needed. A tide has turned in this rivalry. It is now an alliance. Brianna and I made a plan to set my room on fire and make it look like I burned up.
"I will be back soon," I said to my parents and brother. Brianna went to her room to pack a bag. Loki was watching from the entrance of the bifrost room. I went over to him to say goodbye.
"Goodbye Loki." I said.
"Answer me this before you take your leave. won't your precious guard miss you when you die? or do you plan on taking him with you?" he asked in an angry tone.
"You have no right to ask such things." I spat. "He is an old friend, the only company I have on Jotunheim. He was comforting me as I reminisced in my lonely past. I will miss him but he is nothing more than another memory that will fade. He was a friend. Not that I should be explaining that to you!"
"I am sorry," he sighed.
"Jealousy is not a good shade for you loki." Thor chuckled from behind me. Loki shot him a deadly glare but turned his attention back to me.
"Be careful. Goodbye heather" he said.
"For now," I winked. His lips twitched into a slight smile and I knew I had him back.
