A Fledgling Takes Flight [9]

(Y/n)'s P.O.V

I had found Zorua in a pile of berries, she had fallen asleep while eating it seems. I headed back with Zorua on my shoulder, still asleep, and Herdier in my arms. I picked a couple of berries on the way back for snacking, I think I picked at least a dozen of a couple types of berries; mostly oran berries and pecha berries. I was followed by a couple of pokemon who had taken a liking to me, it was kind of cute to see them like this! I got back to the main building followed by the most adorably heart-breaking whine from some of the younger pokemon. The old woman from before chuckled after I closed the door.
"They've taken a liking to you, now haven't they." She said. I scratched the back of my head, embarrassed.
"Well... I think they just appreciate being clean and fed, I've also patched up Deino. My Herdier here," I lifted him, "got into a fight after Deino tacked me, he had a few cuts, but I've tried to help as best I could." I explained. The woman was about to say something when the bell above the door rang, we both turned slightly to see who came in.
"Hey (Y/n), you ready to go to Nacrene City?" Hilbert asked excitedly, just on time I suppose. I turned back to the woman who smiled and handed me my payment, I thanked her and left with Hill. "Where's Lillipup (Y/n)? Did you leave him in the day care?" Hilbert asked. I looked at Herdier, who was in my arms, and replied.
"Hill, since I'm your friend I would like to politely tell you that your an absolute Dunsparce at times. I'm also sorry to say that your ability would be Unaware."
"What's that supposed to mean?!" He yelled, as if I insulted his mother.
'Ya dumb Miltank! She's saying ya can't see what's in front of ya eyes, Dunsparce.' Herdier growled lowly. Hilbert looked down at what I was holding close to my chest. He looked between me and Herdier before he realised what's happened.
"Oh... Lillipup evolved? Cool! Tepig evolved too! Now he's a Pignite! I caught a Blitzle too!"

Hilbert got very excited and decided to pick up the pace, and he started running to the next city. I put Herdier down and ran after Hill, Zorua 'held' onto my hair as I ran. I grabbed her and put her in my bag, I glanced behind me to make sure Herdier was still following; sure enough he was.
'Slow down Human! Your making me sick!' Zorua yelped.
"Sorry Zorua! No can do, Hilbert is faster than a Zebstrika!" I said loudly. The rush of chasing down my friend was satisfying! It got my blood pumping, heart pounding and really makes me feel alive! The city was getting closer when I saw Hill trip, fall and cut his face. But not a second after falling he's up and raring to go yet again, that was until a familiar face was seen.
"Hilbert, what on earth are you doing?" It was Cheren!
"Hey Cheren, I was really excited about something and wanted to get to the next gym and test my pokemon's new strength!" Hill said while flexing jokingly, as it was obvious he had no muscle to speak of. I ran up to the two of them, slapping Cheren on the back as a greeting.
"Cheren, it's been a while! Were you training for the gym in the city?" I asked.
"Ah, (Y/n). It really has, how are you? I'm sorry to have left you with..." He looks down at Hilbert, who has become a pillow for Herdier, "Well, yeah... I see Lillipup evolved, good for him. Dewott isn't the only one, that's good. But to answer your question, yes, I was training, I was just about ready to challenge the gym." And he began walking away. I picked up Herdier and helped Hilbert up, and followed Cheren into the city.

Nacrene City was very rustic. There were old train tracks running throughout the city, most of the buildings were made primarily out of wood. It was like an interactive art piece! Hilbert went off with Cheren to challenge the gym, and I went to look around town. This city was gorgeous, everything was so wild yet calm... 'It's nice here, when I'm a bit older I think I'll live here. If I can that is, it's so nice I doubt there's a spare house.' Thinking to myself I start humming a random tune that I vaguely remember from my childhood, I reached the city outskirts. I looked around and saw an old barrier for when a train was going to pass, it obviously doesn't work anymore but it looked cool anyway! I crawled underneath it and found myself in the next route, Pinwheel Forest, or at least outside it. There were quite a few pokemon here: Tympole, Pidove and Timburr just to name a few. I quietly spoke to the inhabitants of this area, "Hey there, I don't want to fight you guys. Me and my friends here will just be exploring ok?"
