The Past Comes for a Visit [12]

(Y/n)'s P.O.V

"Hey, uh, (Y/n)! I can't get down." I woke up to Bianca talking. I looked around and saw her holding onto the trunk of the tree.
"B, just come over here." I pet next to me. She moved over to me, shaking due to her fear of heights. She clears her throat to calm her nerves. When she calmed down, she asked:
"How are you feeling? You were sleeping when I got here." I smiled, my assumption was right. I answered honestly.
"I kinda guessed that... I'm fine. Shaken up, but fine." I go silent for a while. 'You know what? B has been there for me through thick and thin in the small time I've known her, she deserves to know.' "Hey B, remember a while ago I said I'd tell you something?" I waited for a response, but she was staring intensely at me. "... Well today is that day. So, if it wasn't obvious, Professor Aurea Juniper isn't my biological mother. I actually don't know who my mother was, she died giving birth to me."
"Wait! So, your name isn't (Y/n) Juniper?" I shook my head. I continued.
"No... No. I'm actually ashamed of who I'm related to... My so-called Father didn't actually care for me, he was only interested in my ability." I was trembling with anger. "I was rebellious, very rebellious, I get that! I wasn't the best daughter, but I never got told off. No... Just told politely told, by the staff, to go to my room. This went on for months! Months! Eventually I stopped trying. After all, why would I? My damned Father went out and found someone else, a son to replace his failed daughter. Raised by pokemon and manipulated by him." At this point I was crying and shouting out of anger. "What kind of man does that?! Arceus I'm sorry for using your name so much but, Arceus damn him! I swear he even forgot I existed after the stray came to live with us..." I was getting harder for me, I've held this in for so long! 'I've come this far, don't break yet!'

"Oh (Y/n)..." Bianca has never seen me in a state this emotional. Her voice was laced with sympathy. I couldn't help but ignore her, I'd crack otherwise and shut out the world again.
"So, one day, about a week or so before I came to Nuvema Town I stole that egg. I knew what would've happened to Zorua if I didn't, I took two in fact... Left one in the Strays room, another Zorua egg, with a note. Me and him, even though I have been a little distrusting of him for a while now, we were friends. I snuck him out of the house, and we went into the forest, we hung out there, it was our spot. But it seems it was one sided. When I was running away, the note said to meet at our spot, but who showed up? Grunts! He snitched on me! All I wanted to do was say 'goodbye' and maybe 'we'll see each other again'. But he just threw me out and left me for the Mandibuzz." I just wanted to scream and cry in a dark corner.
"You poor soul!" She just hugged me tightly. I just shattered into thousands of shards of emotions. Tons of pent up emotions just came out all at once. Bianca soothed me for what felt like hours, I stopped crying eventually. I had a headache, I was tired and I was parched. "You better now? A good cry is healthy for you." I nodded slightly, still ready to drown in my tears. "Hey, you never did say your surname." I flinched, it's a simple question.
"Right, it's Harmonia. I am (Y/n) Harmonia." I couldn't help but add my opinion about my family. "I'm disgusted with anyone related with that surname." I got a bottle of water out of my bag and drunk it. 'Note to self, become emotionless. Less headaches and no crying, all good things.'
Zorua lifted her head and tilted it to the left before asking, 'Human? You saved me before I hatched?'
"Yes, I couldn't stand for what they do to pokemon like you!" Both Zorua and Bianca flinched when I shouted. "B... Promise me you won't tell Cheren or Hilbert. I'll tell them when I'm ready, it takes a lot out of me..." Bianca smiled and agreed, then suggested that we get back to civilization.

When we got back, we saw Hill and Cheren talking. I walked up to Hilbert to thank him for helping me. "Hey Hill, I just wan-" I was cut off by a suffocating hug, or should I say hold?
"Why are you all reckless?" Cheren said holding me tight. He pulled away and held me at arm's length. "And you... You need to learn self-defence, at least the basics." He scolded. I looked down ashamed, I was going to learn but who'd teach me while travelling? "And before you make the excuse of 'I'm travelling', keep it to yourself, I'll be giving that layabout on your head a run down and she'll teach you." Almost by instinct, Zorua lifted her head and growled.
'No! You can chase your tail if you think I'm going to train the trainer.' I translated Zorua's stubborn response only to be met by an impatient glare.
"Zorua, it's recommended..." I stopped listening before this argument ensued and just thought. 'Hm... I should buy a single tent and then head off to Castelia City's Gym. Maybe I should call Mam, or should I call her Juniper? I don't know... I'll call her when I get to Castelia City, I think I remember her asking for one of the Casteliacone's! But where can I get those? I'll ask when I'm there! Oh, maybe they'll have choco-'
'Human!' I leaped out of my skin at Zorua's bark. 'Come on! Let's get out of here, I don't like this place.'
