I growled. He smirked in amusement. “What are you going to do? Beat me up? What are you in middle school?” He laughed.
“Well, I don’t appreciate when you put you filthy hands on her. How else are we going to settle this?” I crossed my arms, but ready for him if he decides to throw a punch.
“I don’t know, but she was mine first.”
“She isn’t yours to keep, and she’s with me now, so back off or I’ll have to settle this.”
“Oh gosh, you don’t understand do you? She still loves me, she always will, even if she’s with you.”
“Are you stupid or something? If she still loved you she wouldn’t be with me and you wouldn’t be all beat up.”
“Please, she just doesn’t know it, I gave her more than you ever could.”
“You’re an ass. You can’t keep abusing her, if you loved her then why are you hurting her? Do you like to see her suffer? She’s bruised and cut up! You don’t understand.”
He pinched the skin between his nose and after a small paused he laughed. “God, you’re dumb. How does she fall for a guy like you?”
“What are you doing here anyway? If you didn’t notice, she’s not living here anymore, so you can just go back to the hole you came from.”
“She wants me back.” He growled.
“No, she doesn’t.” I retorted.
“Yes, she does!” He yelled, throwing his fist in a wall, causing a hole.
“Get out of here Cole, no one wants you here.” I grab the box and go down the stairs. I put the box in the car. Just then a glass shattered near me. I jump and look at the glass, right next to my foot. I look up and see Cole will a satanic look in his eyes. His lip curled into an angry growl. “Shit…” I whispered. He started to run down the stairs. My heart raced as I panicked. I quickly closed the door and ran to the driver side, locked the doors and fumbled around to find the keys. I looked in the rear mirror, he was getting close to end. I finally found the keys and pushed it in, trying to start the ignition. It slowly started. “Come on!” I grunted. It roared to life and I looked in the rear mirror and he wasn’t there. I looked around, eyes widened and started to head out. As I was just about to exit he jumped on my car. I let out a small yelp and start driving, frightened. This guy is fucking crazy. He growled and pounded on the car. “GET OFF! YOU’RE GOING TO KILL YOURSELF IF YOU STAY ON!” I yell through the window and his frantic pounding.
“I’m going to kill you!” He yelled. I had no choice as his fist cracked the window. I sucked in my breath and drove, fast, trying to get him off. I swerve a couple of times and he rolled off. I stopped the car on the side and checked on him through the rear mirror. He laid on the floor, unable to get up, the cars stop and get out to help him. I gulp and ride out to the hotel.
“Galina?” I say, shakily.
“Here.” She calls from the tv room. I walk in and see her playing cards with Toni. I smiled, a little relieved to see her looking better, her swelling has gone down from the last time I saw her. My hands slowly stop shaking, but just a little bit still rush through them. I sit next to her and lay my head on her lap. She giggled. “What’s wrong?”
I bit my lip, indecisive if I should tell her that I ran over her ex boyfriend. Better not. “Just traffic.” I looked away.
I felt her eyes on my face. “You’re lying.”
“Well… Imma go.” Toni says and leaves.
“I’m not.”
She gasps. “You have a cut!” I lift my head up and touched the place where it burned. I pull my hand back and look at it.
“Just a small cut.” I thought it was a nerve that just messing with me. It was probably when he threw the glass at me.
“God damn it Oli! Tell me what the fuck happened!” She throws her cards down and crosses her arms. I stared at her in awe. Why is she getting so angry?
“Why are you yelling?” I say, touching her arm. Trying to cool her off.
“I’m not…” She starts to yell again then puts her hand over mouth. “I’m sorry.” She says, quieter now.
“Cool off, Galina.” I say, rubbing her arm.
“Just tell me.”
“Your ex boyfriend was there.” I say, taking back my arm.
“Fuck.” She whispered, putting her hand over her head.
“It’s fine… He’s… taken care of.” I avoid her eyes.
“You’re not telling me something. You’re looking away from me when you talk.” She light turned my face to hers. I looked at her green eyes. “Please tell me.”
“You’re going to hate me.” I pushed her hand away from my chin.
“Why would I hate you?” She says, craning her neck to look at my face.
“I’m not proud of what I did.”
“No one is always proud of what they do. Please… Oli. You’re important to me.”
I turned to her. This was such a cliché moment. “I ran him over…” I mumbled.
“What?”
“I ran him over.”
She paused. I looked at her and she stared at me in disbelief. “You’re lying.”
“I’m not.” I raise my eyebrows.
“Oliver…” She whispered.
“Please, it was an accident. He’s not hurt, well I don’t know if he is or not.”
“He’s going to report you.”
“I don’t know. I have a story. I don’t know if anyone saw it.”
“What happened?”
“I was getting the last box and he was in there so I told him to leave you alone and he was telling me that he still loved you and you loved him.” She scoffed. “And I told him to get out and I went to the car to pack up the last box then he threw glass at me. I was freaking out. Then when I went to go leave, he jumped on my car. I made him get off the car by swerving and I guess he rolled off on the street, I left before anyone could see me.” I run my fingers through hair, nervously.
“I don’t know what to say.”
“Are you mad?” I say, looking at her as she looked out the window. She didn’t say anything. “Galina.” I say. “It wasn’t my fault. He was smashing my windows. He was going to kill both of us.” She still looked out the window. “Galina please say something. You’re scaring me.” She looked at me.
“I don’t know.” She looked back out the window. “I don’t know if I should feel relieved that you’re okay or he won’t be bothering my for a while. Or that you ran him over and I might lose you.”
“You won’t lose me. There has to be witnesses.”
“Something’s going to happen Oliver. It’s not going to be good.”
I sighed. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s not your fault. “ She says. She sat, not moving, just staring. Thinking.
“Are you okay?” I touch her arm.
“I don’t know.”
“Do you need anything?”
“I don’t know.”
“Hungry?”
“I don’t know.”
“Galina… Please.” I beg.
