Saving Everyone, Almost

I ran to the middle aged man's aid. The crash downtown left him stuck under his own bus. I gently lifted it slightly so he could move out of the way, then I put it back down. I picked him up and took him to the paramedics on the other side of the bus and kept looking for others who had gotten stuck. The whole thing was a disaster, terrorists had brought a bomb onto a bus and on the highway, they set it off. The problem was, it hadn't gone off completely, so when police and medics went in to help, it blew again and injured those guys as well. I was called to make sure the bomb wouldn't go off again, which it did. I took it to an empty feild and defused it, taking it back to the bomb squad that was on the scene by the time I got back.

"Thankyou Supergirl..." I heard some of the less injured people behind me. I walked over to them and asked them a fwe questions, starting conversations to calm them down.

"Look out!" One of them yelled. I turned and saw a green bullet heading straight for me. I flew into the air, dodging it. Not ralising that it was Kryptonite, I didn't have to move. The bullet hit the medic's van and fell to the ground.

"Who are you?" I yelled to a man dressed all black and a ski mask.

"Just a friend, of Lena's..." He tried to shoot me again but the bullet bounced off me, making his eyes widen.

"I'm not vulnerable to Kryptonite anymore, didn't you get the memo?" I ran towards him, knocking him out, sending him flying into a crashed car behind him. A crowd cheered and I flew off, knowing that my job here was done. I heard a scream in the distance when I was just about to fly into my apartment window, I went to work.

"Supergirl is here!" A few people were cheering as I arrived at a burning building. I used my freeze breath to get rid of the fire, then I went inside and saved almost everyone. There was still someone inside, screaming when the house collapsed. I covered my mouth with my hands to stop myself from letting out the small scream that was caught in my throat.

An hour later

"It is okay, Kara. You couldn't have saved all of them, it is a miricle that you got all but one." Lena was still trying to reassure me that the boy that died wasn't my fault.

"Lena, I could have saved him. I was about to go back in to grab him but..."

"But what?"

"I couldn't hear him screaming anymore, I thought he..."

"Kara, stop beating yourself up. You need a drink, where can we get a drink that can get a Kryptonian wasted?"

"I know a bar..."

Lena POV

We walked through the doors of a small bar full of aliens. I dragged Kara by the hands, bringing her to a table right next to the counter.

"I am going to get the strongest stuff I can find, " I told her, getting up and ordering the strongest alcohol they had. I looked back at Kara. She was staring at the pool table, with tears in her beautiful blue eyes. I payed for the cocktails and took them back to the table, Kara was still staring into nothingness.

"Kara, what's wrong?"

"This is the bar where Winn beat Alex at pool for the first time. They would play constantly and Alex woud always win. Then I put a bet that Winn would beat Alex and he took it seriously, not taking his eyes off the balls and he ended up winning."

"Winn won." I joked. She smiled, I love that smile. I laughed and she giggled.

"Wow, you couldn't resist, could you?" She wiped the tears from her face and took her first mouthful of the drink, I had a sip of mine too. Realising that it burnt, I put it down straight away.
