I hate you
Draco Malfoy x reader
Warning: none

Getting into heated arguments with your best friend was common. You viewed life differently even though you grew up together since diapers. This time however things seemed to be extreme. Being polite, you assisted Potter with his potion in class. The poor kid seemed to be going through enough so it didn't seem like something he could yell at you for. Once leaving the classroom however, Draco instantly gave you a look of hatred and here you were now. In the middle of the slytherin common room yelling at each other. Both of you were getting louder. The argument now turning into you each pointing out the others flaws. Then it came out. Draco uttered the words I Hate You. Tears welled up into your eyes. You both had said those words as children but made up instantly. Now that you were older, things were different. Draco instantly regretted everything he'd said in the past hour. He didn't hate you, he loved you. But you were out of the common room faster then he could realize where you went. Using a bit of magic, your sketch pad and pencil went into your hands as you made your way down to the black lake. Your tears had now subsided and you thought with pure clarity. You already knew what you'd be drawing.
The image was one you hadn't drawn in years. At that point the image show'd a smiling boy in the mists of laughing at his talented friend finally drawing him. Now the picture would show all the changes time put him through. The smile would be faint but still present as you remembered a vague memory of you and Draco walking hand in hand down the halls on a snowy day. Neither of you felt good, you being sick and him being too tired to function properly. His smile only appearing due to your presents. He cared about you. Anyone could tell but right in this moment it felt like to you that he didn't have a single tear to spare. He knew you were at the black lake so he took his time thinking about what he should say, what he should do and when the perfect moment to come down and disrupt your peace. Tears flowed silently down his face. He messed up and now more than ever he wasn't sure if he'd be able to fix it at all. His best friend, the girl he'd fallen for.. did he just lose the love of his life over three careless words?

From the castle he watched. You were still. Sitting cross legged, you seemed content with the atmosphere that surrounded you. It was cold and snow had only just started to fall. You'd catch a cold from drawing out here, he knew it. Chuckling to himself he pulled his jacket closer and made his way to you. From over your shoulder he could see the image. It was him. But you hadn't drawn him as something evil or cruel, it was a moment from when he smiled all because you were by his side. He sat next to you mumbling something along to lines of I'm so sorry. You sighed as you finished the art. A smile grazed you lips as you shifted towards Draco, resting your head on his shoulder. He could tell you'd forgiven him and that things would be okay.

He smiled simply because you were by his side.
