Not again, I thought as my body crashed through the surface off the water.
I blew out air bubbles through my nostrils as I stood up, gasping for air.
I rubbed my eyes angrily, holding myself tightly.
"Alex!" I screamed, at the boy in front of me. He laughed, shrugging.
"You shoved me in first!" He said his hands holding his hands up.
"Well you tackled me to the ground, did I mention you're like double my size?" I huffed in annoyance.
The rest had followed suit and jumped in along with me. Except they did so voluntarily.
"Not my fault you're petite," He said. I shoved him off and was about to climb out when a pair of arms pulled me by the waist. Alex pulled me closer to him and turned me around so I was face to face with his gleaming chest. I sighed pushing away, trying to get out of his grasp when he wrapped his arms around mine pinning my arms to my side.
He then lifted me up so I was face to face with him.
"I'm sorry," He said with a chuckle, I rolled my eyes. His warm breath brushed over my face, how did he always manage to smell so good? His eyes shined under the dim lighting, and I found myself a little breathless.
Goddamn.
"Can you put me down now?" I asked impatiently,
He nodded and put me down on the pool floor and I bent my knees sinking in deeper, the water coming up to my neck.
Everyone else had calmed down, Sasha was floating around on one of the inflatable chairs, Tyler pushing her around, occasionally tipping her off, causing her to shriek out in shock. Rain was sitting on the steps hand in hand with Sam as they talked. Alex was facing me running his hand through the water when he suddenly looked at me.
I opened my mouth about to ask what was wrong when he splashed me with water, I sighed and looked at him with an are-we-really-going-to-do-this-again. He shrugged challenging me with another splash.
I splashed him, putting in so much force as I could. It worked, I drenched him completely with water and I smirked stepping back.
He chuckled, "You're going to try a lot harder than that Riles," And he splashed me again.
I was a little taken aback by the nickname he had called me. That was what Rick called me. Hearing someone else say it was a different experience. In a good way. A comforting way.
I smiled and splashed him harder wafting through the water to get closer towards him. Before I could splash him again, however, he clasped my hands together and turned me around pulling his arms around my chest. I was heaved against his chest and he lifted me up, his chin resting on my shoulder.
"Dear, dear, is that all you got?" He said breathing into my ear. My skin tingled and I squirmed underneath his touch. I managed to turn myself around and I stepped closer, slowly. I pressed my hand against him chest and smiled at him, his eyes widened. His arms circled around my waist and bent down slightly.
Woah, mister. Not that far! His eyes were a mesmerising blue and I almost forgot what I had in mind.
I tiptoed until my face was inches from his, he stared back breathlessly, his eyes flickering down to my lips.
At that moment I knew it was time and before he could have a chance to do or say anything I hooked my leg around the back of his and yanked upwards causing him to fall back under water.
