Beep Beep Beep
That was my new amazing alarm clock. Haha uh no. I groaned and pulled myself up and out of bed. School starts at 8:10. The time was 7:00, so I kinda had to hurry since Paige is dropping me off.And yes, we got our car back. I got ready and headed over to the kitchen for breakfast. Hayley's homeschooled. Lucky. "Morning Annie." Hayley yawned. I softly laughed.
"Morning Haybug." I said grabbing a pop tart out of the pantry. I eat it in silence when Paige walks into the kitchen with messy hair. "Bad hair day?" I ask laughing.
"Don't even mention it." She rolled her eyes. I laughed all the way down to the car. "Ready for the first day?" Paige asked me as she was making a turn. "No not really." I sighed.
Hayden's POV
Hey. I'm Hayden Summerall. I'm the 'bad boy' at school that everyone loves. I'm a definite chick magnet and can roll into any crowd at school.
"Sup Hayden!" My best bro Johnny called. "Aye John." I said giving him a bro hug. "So, are you gonna ask Katelyn out?" Johnny asked me as we walked to my locker.
"Totally. She's like the hottest girl in school!" I said opening my locker. As I opened it, a picture fell out. I was confused and picked it up.
It was a picture of me and my childhood best friend, Annie. We were probably 10 in this picture. I slightly smiled at it and put back into my locker.
I wonder how she's been.
Annie's POV
As I walked into school, most eyes were on me. It made me feel pretty uncomfortable so I speed walked to the office.
I walked in seeing a office lady typing something into the computer. "Excuse me?" I said. "Mhm." She said keeping her eyes on the computer.
"Um my names Julianna LeBlanc, I'm new here." I said trying to peek at what she was typing. "Here's your schedule." She said handing me a paper.
I walk out of the office and to my first period which was physics. When I entered the room, once again, eyes were on me. I shifted my eyes to the teacher.
"You must be Julianna right?" He said. I nodded shyly. "Well Julianna, you can go sit by Ms.Bartles over there." He said pointing to a girl with brown hair.
I walked over to her. She gave me a welcoming smile. "Hi! I'm Jayden." She said. "I'm Annie." I said returning the smile. "I though it was Julianna?" She questioned.
"It is, but I preferred to be called Annie as a nickname." I said. "That's cool! Can I see you schedule?" She asked.
I reached into my pocket and handed Jayden my schedule. She closely examined it. "Nice! We have 4 classes together." She said pointing to all of the ones we had together.
When class started, Jayden kept making me laugh and made the period pass by quick. She said I can sit with her during lunch which lifts one weight off my shoulder.
I eagerly walked to my next class which was drama and music. I always did love to sing.
Hayden's POV
In my next class I was alone. No friends. I walked in not late as usual and sat in the very back.
I heard we had a new girl and she's probably sitting by me since no one sits next to me and it's the only open seat.
"Class, please welcome our new student. Julianna." Ms.Asbury said. Julianna? I though in my head. No, it can't be.
Ms.Asbury pointed the seat next to me. That can't be her. Can it? The girl looked at me wide eyed. It is her.
She sat down next to me and didn't say a thing. She looked so, different. She definitely had a glow up. She died the ends of her tips to a shade of blond, her eyes glowed more and she looks, pretty. Not that she wasn't it's just that, prettier.
Annie's POV
Hayden Summerall. My dear lord it was him. He 100% changed. His style, his body, puberty hit this kid hard. He's looks like he's been working out.His clothes have a bad edge to them. He doesn't look the Hayden I know. "Annie? Is that you?" He whispered since the teacher was speaking.
"Yeah Hayden." I slightly smiled. He had a fear look in his eyes and turned his head back to the front.
Does he not like me anymore? The rest of the class went by so slow. I quickly grabbed my stuff and rushed out of class.
It was lunch time so I walked to Jayden's locker where she was talking to another girl. "Annie!" Jayden said giving me a hug. I smiled and hugged back.
"Annie, meet Kenzie. Kenzie, Annie." She smiled. "So you're the new girl?" Kenzie asked. I nodded. "Well, nice to meet you! Let's go!" Kenzie said linking Jayden and my arms with hers
We walk into the lunch room and sit at a table. We talked for a bit when out of no where "hey Annie, Hayden's totally checking you out!" Kenzie squealed.
"Please Kenz, we all know his reputation here." Jayden rolled her eyes. I raised a brow. "What's his reputation?" I asked curiously.
"Hayden's the bad boy. Almost every girl drools over him. I swear I hate him." Jayden said in disgust. Hayden? Hayden Summerall? As in my childhood best friend Hayden?
No way. He's changed so much. How? Why? "Well then." I mumbled so no one could hear. "Annie?" I heard a voice. I turn around seeing... Johnny!
"Hey Johnny!" I smiled. "You two know each other?" Kenzie asked. "Yeah." We both replied in sync.
"I didn't know you go here!" He said. "Ha, well I'm new." I say with a shy grin. "Cool. Well, see you around girls." He winked before leaving.
Hayden's POV
Only one thing was playing in my head. Annie LeBlanc. I can't get her out of my head. What do I do? Should I say hi? No. I can't just go up to her! What am I suppose to say?
Hey Annie I'm a bad boy now! No way! I can't believe I'm stressing over this. "That Annie girl is pretty cute." Johnny said in awe. "No dude, you can't like her." I said with a little anger.
"What? Why?" He questioned. "Dude, she's my best friend. Or was." I mumbled the last part. "What? Wait, how do you two know each other?" He asked.
"Long story bro. I'll tell you another time." I sighed, playing around with my food.
Annie's POV
The school day was FINALLY over. Defiantly one of the most awkward days ever. "Annie." I heard a faint voice. I turn around to see Hayden.
"Hey Hayden." I said chocking on my words. "Can we, uh, talk." He said with wandering eyes. "Sure." I said.
We walked to his car and he leaned on the window while I tightened my grip on my book. "Why are you in la?" He asked breaking the ice.
"We moved here." I said gently biting my lip. "Why?" He asked shifting his feet. "Oh, just because. How have you been?" I asked changing the subject.
He laughed. "Look at me. Not the best." He joked. I joined in his laughter. "I missed you." I said not thinking. Shoot.
"Me too." He mumbled. "But we can't be friends like we used to Annie." He said looking into my eyes, making eye contact for the first time in forever.
"Why not?" I said tilting my head. "Annie, I've changed. And-" "And your reputation is way more important then me. I get it." I scoff.
"No Annie, that's not why. I can't. I've changed. It's to protect you." Hayden said getting up from his car.
"Well, let me know when we can be friends." I said.
And with that, I left the awkward sene.
