"and then she knew. that you could become homesick for people too."

As I enter the apartment, I almost trip over air. Typical me. I sigh and walk into the kitchen, with a note on the fridge.

I take the note off and read it:

Dear Annie, I had to leave for my first day of work. I won't be home till late so you can either cook something for you and Hayley or go grab something. I left money in the top right drawer in your desk. xoxo, Paige.

I throw the note away and walk to Hayley's room. I knock on the door and hear a faint "come in." I open the door to see Hayley reading a book.

"Hey Hayley." I said slightly grinning. "Hey Annie!" She said. "How was homeschooling?" I asked sitting next to her on the bed.

"Eh." She shrugged her shoulders. "Well, Paige isn't going to be home till later cause of work. Wanna go grab some back out steakhouse for dinner tonight?" I ask, stroking back her curly hair.

She excitedly shook her head yes. I smiled at her adorable remark and walked to my room to get some homework done.

Hayden's POV

She doesn't know. She doesn't know what's happened in my life. My life's changed. A lot. When I moved to la, Annie was my only source of 'good'

She would help me make good choices and stay on the right path. When she left, it all went down hill.

I started to hang around the wrong crowd. I'm now apparently in a gang of people. You know, drug dealers, alcoholic teens and all that stuff.

Do I regret it? You don't even know. Why don't you just leave? Well they will kill me. Literally. Apparently if I leave they'll kill me because the gang is so top secret.

Right now I was sneaking out of the house to go to a meeting. I jumped out my window and walked to the abandon alley way.

As I was walking, I saw them. "Hayden. What took you so long?!" Jay demanded. "Sorry dude. My brother almost found out." I said pushing up a sleeve of my leather jacket.

If you didn't know, every member had a leather jacket with the official logo on it. There's only five of us.

"Next time don't be so late." Cam said hopping of the dumpster. Jay talked about what's happening in the next few weeks and I ran back home so Dylan won't find out.

Oh right, I forgot to mention. I live with my brothers. No parents. My parents left us for a business trip. So I have to work extra hours to help out with the house bills.

I take off my leather jacket and toss it in my closet. I throw on my uniform and get out of my room.

"I'm heading on my night shift Dyl!" I shout as I put my shoes on. "Okay." He plainly says. I sigh and hop in my car and drive to Outback Steakhouse.

Annie's POV

"Hayley! I'm heading to grab us dinner!" I shout loud enough for her to hear me. "Okay!" She shouted back. Great. I forgot Paige has the car.

I grab my phone and wallet and tie up my sneakers. I call and uber and head out to out back steak house.

I pay the uber driver and walk in. You know how there's a sudden rush of wind when you open the door? Well, that happened. It sent a uncomfortable shiver down my spine.

I shrug it off and head to the front. "Hello what- Annie?" Great. It was Hayden. "Hayden? I didn't know you worked here." I said oddly confused.

"Yeah, just temporary." He said looking down. "Oh well, I'll take 2 stakes." I smirked a little. He laughed and rolled his eyes. "Coming right up!" He said walking back to the kitchen.

While I was waiting for him to come back, I just keep on wondering why in the world would he work at out back steakhouse.

"Here you go ma'am." Hayden said in a southern accent. I laughed at his accent and paid him. "Thanks." I said grabbing the food.

"Oh and can you do me a favor and like, not tell anyone I work here?" He said before I walked away. "Wasn't planning on in Summerall." I winked. I walked out and uber home.

I walk in to see Hayley watching tv. She quickly turned her attention to me and smiled. "Mmmmm!" She smiled grabbing the bag from my hands. We both went to the table and ate in a peaceful silence.

Well, Hayden got himself into a mess
