The weekend passed way to quickly and by Monday morning I was still very sore. I hadn't gotten out of bed much, and Alice did as much as possible for me.I didn't feel like going to school, but I knew not going was not an option. I got dressed very slowly wincing in pain as the cloth was rubbing over the new wounds.
Getting around today was going to be fun, every step I took, pain radiated through my back, I knew my dad had beaten me pretty bad, but this time was worse than any.
Thankfully I could use the game Friday for an excuse, just telling people I was sore. I didn't have to worry about practice today because all we would do was watch the game film. So basically I had another twenty four hours to work out the soreness.
The only person who would need more convincing would be Miss Connors especially after my dumbass comment I made Friday night. Other than the beating I was glad to be home for two days so I didn't have to see her.
I slowly made my way into school as students and teachers stopped to congratulate us on the win. I had my head turned talking to a kid when I felt myself run into someone.
My arms instinctively reached out grabbing the person around the waist. I grimaced in pain as I felt sharp pain running through my back, "oh God Rj are you okay did I hurt you."
I looked up into those blue eyes, realizing it was her I had ran into, and that my hands were still on her waist, and hers on my back. We both let go immediately and I cleared my throat, "no ma'am just sore from the game still. You know first game of the season gotta get use to being hit all the time again."
I tried added my famous sideways grin, as I watched her rearrange her blouse. "hmm, well I'll see you in class."
I knew by the sound she made she wasn't believing a word I had said. I watched as she walked away just shaking my head, something about that woman made me feel uncomfortable. It wasn't a bad feeling either, it was comforting, and even though she hasn't known me that long she saw straight through my mask.
It wasn't long before I found myself walking down to her class for math, I debated on if I should speak or not as soon as I saw her standing in the hall.
"Good morning again."
I returned her smile and nodded my head, when I went to sit I noticed she was watching me as I slid down slowly. I had to sit straight up because the pain was to intense when I tried to lean back in the chair.
"Okay everyone I've prepared a pop quiz for what we covered last week so all I need to see on your desk are pencils and a piece of blank paper."
A few students groaned but I wasn't worried, for some reason I could retain ungodly amounts of information and most of it would be useless later in life but it came in handy at times like this.
I received my quiz from the person sitting in front of me, "okay once your finished please place them on my desk and return to your sits quietly if others are still working."
I grabbed my pencil and began working a few students had confused looks on their faces, while others tried to work the problems out on notebook paper.
It took me about fifteen minutes to get through the ten questions, when I finished I laid my pencil down and realized I would need to get up once again.
I looked around before slowly sliding out of the desk my back sliding across the chair and I must have let out a small yell, because everyone including Miss Connors was looking at me.
I went to stand again but this time, she was at my desk. I found myself looking up at her, she had a frown on her face, when she reached across the desk to grab my test her hand brushed over the top of mine and her eyes flickered down to me. "Just sore huh."
