Jamie looks up at Brooke while nestling on her shoulder. They looked at horizon as the sun started to rise. Both of them sat on the roof, crossing their legs. Jamie takes out her phone and looks at the time.
"Shoot. I have to start decorating the house for my party." Jamie says as she quickly stands up.
The incline of the roof throws her off balance and she tips over, nearly falling. Brooke takes her hand, and pulls her down.
"You have to be more careful" Brooke says as she extends her hand cautiously, waving it through Jamie's hair, and taking a piece of lint away. Jamie feels Brooke's hand and her heart unconsciously skips a beat. Jamie releases the uneven breath following the broken heartbeat. She closes her eyes for a slight second then wakes up.
"Yeah um, I have to go. I still have to drive to my parents' house to decorate." Jamie says as she gets up carefully, remembering the almost accident.
"So your why are you using your parents house?" Brooke asks.
"The dorm is too small, the club is too expensive. Plus, my parents are visiting my brother in Vancouver so the house is empty." Jamie explains.
Jamie steps off the roof and goes through the window. She gets into her car and drives to her parents house. When she arrives, she enlists Harper with a number of errands and tasks. In a number of hours a simple house turned into a private club, full of food, places to sit, and enough space for dancing. There was an open bar, hosted by Cam, and a DJ pad. Jamie's party was complete.
When the sun started to sink into the horizon, people buzzed through the open doors and loud music started to play. Brooke came in, Jamie walked towards her for a hug but then sees Ethan.
"What is he doing here?" Jamie asks.
"Oh, you said that I could bring anyone. So I brought Ethan." Brooke explains casually.
"Ethan!" Jamie exclaims, over exaggerating. "Who is Ethan?" She asks.
"Wait, I didn't tell you about him?" Brooke says confusingly. "He uh is the guy I'm seeing." She explains further.
"Oh, okay. Well enjoy the party. It's an open bar so feel free to use it. I know I'm going to!" Jamie says trying to mask her uneasy feelings about Ethan.
Jamie walks away from all the small talk. She had mixed emotions and feelings. Feelings she couldn't make senses of. Why should she be jealous of Brooke, she should be happy that Brooke is seeing somebody. She felt regret, anger, and sadness and heads straight into the deep end, where the open bar and dancing was held. She sits on the chair seated right in front of the bar and starts to drink one cocktail, then two, then three. By the time she was on her fifth drink, she already had danced so much that her moves were on replay. Jamie decides to step out of the deep end and go upstairs. She climbs the stairs as if she was a five year old stumbling through the high steps. She reaches her destination and finds Brooke and Ethan on her bed, making out. Jamie quickly turns around and continues in her rage drinking.
As the night flew by, Jamie was nearly unconscious. Drunken people were passed out all over the house and everybody had left. Brooke enters the house and finds Jamie resting her head on the table of the bar. She takes a seat next to her, sitting down quietly.
"Please tell me you didn't have sex on my bed. Please." Jamie says, stretching her words in an uneasy tone.
"No, Ethan left a few hours ago. I went back to the dorm and came back to check on you." Brooke answers.
"Wow, look at us. We switched places. I'm the drunk one and you are the responsible one." Jamie says meanly, unconscious of her words and actions.
"Haha. Come on, let's go home." Brooke says unamused and takes Jamie's arm.
"No! I want to sleep here. It's only 3am in the morning." Jamie complains.
Brooke reluctantly sinks back down onto the chair and looks at the window with the warm glow of the sun masking her. Jamie notices Brooke, she notices her luminous dark brown hair draping over her neck, and her eyes, a subtle cocoa brown. The soft light of the morning sun beautifully highlights Brooke's skin, making her glow. Jamie looks at Brooke, and unconsciously bites her lower lip, she gets up, takes a step towards Brooke, waves her hand through Brooke's hair while placing the other on her waist, and kisses Brooke.
