Jamie runs into the dark and luminous hallway as she weeps silently. She sits on the edge of her bed and sobs. Jamie takes her phone out from her pocket and stares at the notifications that showed missed calls and texts from Brooke. Jamie wipes her tear off of her left cheek.
After some time, Brooke peeks into the room and carefully enters.
"You can come in without tip toeing, it's your room too." Jamie says sternly.
Brooke replies softly, "I know, I was just being safe in case you were asleep." Brooke continues, "are you feeling better?"
"Yeah, I just- I just needed time to get over it", Jamie says as she sniffles through her words.
"Caleb was a hoe either way, you are better off without him." Brooke states, attempting to lighten the mood of the atmosphere. "Do you need anything?", Brooke asks.
"Nope, I'm good. I just want to rest that's all."
Brooke slowly mutters, "If you want, I know a great party that Harper is throwing tomorrow. We could just go by, plus it's Harper and Cam's anniversary. There would be champagne, your favourite!".
No response came from the room. Jamie melts onto her bed and pulls the covers above her. She flings her arms and legs trying to decide if she should go.
"Is that a yes?", Brooke asks hopefully.
"Ugh, fine. But there better have the hard stuff too."
Brooke gives an impressed expression,
"they won't even have champagne, I lied. It's at a club, so we can get our drink on".
Brooke and Jamie then talked about what a waste man Caleb is, and how drunk they would get at Harper's anniversary party.
The next morning, once the sun touched the horizon, Brooke
woke up without delay. This was a once in a lifetime act, as Brooke was known for missing many very important events due to her love of sleep. Brooke left the dorm in her pyjamas, walked out of the building, and bought donuts, coffee, and bagels.
When Brooke entered she room, she went in quietly and carefully. Brooke set the food and coffee on a table and waited for Jamie to wake up. After a few moments, Jamie started to awake from the smell of baked goodness. She sniffed the air and turned to the direction of the smell. Jamie opened her eyes and smiled.
"Today is going to be a great day, you are going to eat a delicious breakfast. Take your test. And get dressed up for the club.", announced Brooke while handing Jamie a coffee.
Jamie continued to smile and said "thanks Brooke. This means a lot" as she extends her arm and grabs a donut.
"It's black... your favourite, right?" Brooke asked, questioning her memory on how Jamie takes her coffee.
"Yeah, thanks. But you still have to take back that course, or else you will stay home while I go to the party."
"What?! I at least thought that you would be nice enough to forget about that" Brooke replies, consciously overreacting to Jamie's statement.
"But I still don't know how going to the club is going to make me feel better." Jamie says, questioning if she should attend the party.
"Do you want you just sit all day and listen to your stupid sad song playlist, or do you want to have fun and live your life?" Brooke says with a stern unwavering voice.
Jamie shrugs and says, "I don't know. I just want to take my test, sleep, and eat mashed potatoes."
"No! You can't eat mashed potatoes without me and my fried chicken. You are going to take your test and take a nap, but after that we are going out." Brooke says, "plus, I've got a feeling that something good will happen tonight".
