Ethan's POV:
I gave her the paper and walked off. I didn't want to stand there any longer because I knew that soon I'd lose it. And if I lost it, I'd lose her and that's not happening.
I reach home and head upstairs to my room. My dad tries to speak to me but I just shrug it off and walk straight past him.
"Ethan, what's going on with you lately?" My dad says, sitting down beside me.
"I-I don't know."
"Is this about Olivia's boyfriend? Do you not like him?"
"No, no. George is great, it's just-" I trail off, realising that if I continue, I'll blurt out everything.
"Just what?"
"Actually, don't worry."
My dad tries to get answers but I begin to ignore him so he eventually gives up and walks away. I scroll on my phone for a while, hoping that it will buzz with a message from Sophie. It doesn't.
I throw my phone onto my bed and just sit down beside it. I stare at it, expecting it to magically buzz but it doesn't and I'm left wondering what I did wrong. Maybe I'm moving too fast, I mean it's a lot to ask someone to do.
NEW MESSAGE FROM - UNKNOWN NUMBER
*Hey it's Sophie, I'm not sure it's going to work but if it makes you happy I think I'm up for it.*
My heart beats fast as I read the text. She's seriously up for this? She likes me?
*Hi, you like me????*
*Well yeah?*
*Right.*
*Was this a joke or something?*
*No! I'm just shocked.*
*Why? I really like you ☺️💗*
*I love you💗*
She didn't reply or see my last message. It was starting to get to me and I was regretting sending it. My dad walks through the door and sees me pacing around.
"Ethan?" He says, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"Oh yeah hey."
"Abby is at dance with mum. Do you want to go cycling?" Abby is my sister. She's obsessed with dance and to be honest, she's really good at it. My dad and I have always done cycling and it's been something that we both really enjoy.
"Sure, I'll get ready." I reply as he leaves.

It takes me a minute to realise the text is from Sophie. I should really change her contact name.
