Omnipotent

Chapter 3

"What?" Cenn asked, confused beyond belief.
Just as he said this, there was an explosion that came from about a mile from town.
"It's starting." Kane said, in an ominous tone. He walked towards the house, his Omnishard starting to glow. He looked ready for battle. He went over to a wardrobe that, in all of Cenn's time living there, had never been opened. Cenn was starting to get really worried. Kane put his hand on the wardrobe and his hand flashed with light. He opened the wardrobe door, as this action seemed to unlock it. What was inside, Cenn would never forget. There was a sword and a shield, with a suit of metal pads. He took the pads and attached them to parts of his body where there were clamps. He took the sword and the shield. He held the sword in his right hand and the shield in his left. Cenn listened out the door. What he heard was horrible. Screaming and crying, loud explosions. It was horrid.
"Come on." Kane said. He didn't have his usual humorous tone. He threw some armor at Cenn, and he put it on. The armor was light, and it centered mostly around his chest. He put on one big gauntlet that went over the hand with his Omnishard. There was a slot that the Omnishard went through, so it was visible. He ran out the back to grab the sword. He looked into the sky. There was smoke and embers in the air. He ran through the back gate.
The town was in flames. Bodies littered the streets. Balls of fire were hurled threw the air. For the first time in seven years, Cenn was afraid. A thought shot into his mind that snapped him out of his fear. Where was Kairi?
He bolted down the street to find her. He heard marching behind him. He looked back and saw a parade of people wearing black robes and hoods. The people were throwing balls of elemental magic in every which direction. They were all Omnishard bearers. He ran faster, as he was unable to handle all of those Omnishards at once. He ran towards Kairi's house and jiggled the door handle. The door was locked.
"Damn..." he said to himself.
He shrouded his foot in the signature aura. He stepped back. His Omnishard started to glow. He sprinted towards the door, and his foot landed on its target. The door slammed open with great force.
"Kairi?!" He yelled, searching the house for her.
He heard a muffled yell from upstairs. He ran up the stairs, and opened all the doors. He had never been inside her house before, so he didn't know which one her room was. He came to the final door and slammed it open. There she was, huddled in the corner. Her hair was over her face, and she was crying.
Cenn ran over to her, and took her into his arms.
"It's okay, Kairi." He said, trying to be as comforting as possible, "I'm here now."
She cried into his shoulder. "My...parents..." she started, "they're... gone..."
He felt a pang of guilt in his heart. He knew how it felt to lose his family.
"I'm sorry..." he said. He put his sword on his back, and he picked her up. She looped her arms around his neck and pulled in close. He opened the window the best he could, then climbed out. He enhanced his feet so the landing wouldn't hurt them, and he ran for the street. Kane was out there waiting for him.
"Come on!" He yelled. They ran down the street, avoiding the people in the black robes. As they ran down side streets and alleyways, Cenn noticed that Kairi had fallen asleep. She must have been exhausted. They went down an alley where spoke townspeople were hiding, when suddenly someone grabbed Cenn by the shoulder. Cenn looked back and saw someone in a black hood. He instantly thought of the enemy, and Cenn got ready to hurl an icicle at him, but he noticed that the man was in a black hooded shirt, not robes.
"Come on," he whispered and grabbed his arm.
"Kane!" Cenn whispered. Kane started to follow the both of them. Cenn and Kane were very confused. The boy finally spoke.
"You would've died if you stayed there."
Kane and Cenn looked at each other, then at the boy.
"We need to get to somewhere where there isn't many people. I just so happen to have a place like that. Ill explain everything once we get there."
The walked towards a sewer drain. He lifted the manhole cap and dropped inside. Kane went in first and helped Cenn get Kairi into the manhole. Cenn then climbed down and covered the manhole.
Kane gave Kairi to Cenn, and they followed the boy down the sewers. They walked down many corridors and systems.
"How far away is this thing?" Cenn asked impatiently.
"We're almost there, calm the hell down." He said.
They made their way to a dead end.
"Oh my lord..." Cenn said. As he said this, the boy walked to the wall. He put his hand on the wall. A spot on his forearm started glowing. He had an Omnishard. The wall started glowing as well. Then some of the bricks started to fade. After everything was done, a door had appeared. He opened it.
"After you." He said.
Cenn walked into the room. There was a big table in the center, with different kinds of maps. There were three doors in the room. One led to a bedroom. Another led to a bathroom. The last one led to a dining room with a kitchen.
"What is this place?" Said Cenn in amazement.
"Welcome," said the boy, "to my disaster bunker."
"You have a fallout shelter?" Kane said with a snicker.
"Just in case!" The boy said, clearly embarrassed.
Cenn went into one of the bedrooms and laid Kairi down on one of the beds. Cenn turned off the light and covered her with a blanket. She looked very pretty when she was asleep. Almost peaceful. He closed the door behind him as he walked out of the room.
"I guess I should explain myself." He said, taking off the hood of his shirt. He had darker skin, but lighter compared to the other dark skinned people he had seen. His hair was black and spiked up. He had brown eyes. A scar ran up his right cheek to his right eye. He looked about Cenn's age.
"My name is Kai," he said. "And I've been watching you, Cenn."
