Cenn walked over to Keri, who was still crying her eyes out, and helped her off the ground. Black Fist soldiers started to get up and run away. Kai tried to go after them, but Cenn stopped him.
"Let them go," he said.
Kai sighed and walked back over to Cenn.
Cenn was holding Keri in his arms. Keri was looking up at Cenn, tears streaming down her face. She looked healthy, which was good.
"They told me you were dead..." She said in between sobs.
"And I thought you were dead..." He said, a tear running down his face.
"I just still can't believe you're standing in front of me..." Keri said.
Her blue eyes were still as prominent as ever. They were just like their father's. Cenn inherited his white eyes from his mother.
"Well," he said, "here I am."
He hugged her tighter and wrapped his wings around her.
She laughed. "You have no idea how long I've missed those wings of yours..."
He laughed. "Maybe we could go for another ride together sometime?"
"Of course..." She said.
She stepped away to look at him.
"You've definitely grown," she said. They used to be around the same height, but now Cenn was significantly taller than her.
"Yeah, I guess you could say that." He said.
Her tiny wings flapped in excitement. She was really happy to see him after all this time.
"Oh!" She said, "That reminds me!" She grabbed his hand and made him follow her up to the General's office.
"Now," she said, "General Odin can be a little mean at times, but he's a good guy."
"Okay..?"
"He was the one who saved me from the wreckage of our house."
"I see." When he said this, she opened the door slowly. She looked in and saw that he wasn't there.
"Oh," she said, "I'm so dumb..."
"Hm?"
"We just had a frickin Black Fist attack, he wouldn't be in here!"
"True."
She took his hand again. And went up to the balcony that looked out over the front entrance.
"You stay over there," she made him go behind a pillar so no one could see him.
She cleared her throat.
"ODIN!!!" She yelled from the balcony.
"WHAT?!" Cenn heard a hardened and military voice respond.
"I want to show you something!!!" She said, "Come here!!"
Cenn then heard footsteps coming up the stairs on the opposite side.
"What is it, Keri?" He said angrily.
"Odin," she said in an excited voice, "I want you to meet someone."
"Your voice is unusually excited, Miss Carter."
"I'd like you to meet," she motioned Cenn to come out from behind the pillar, "my brother!"
Cenn came out from behind the pillar, and Odin nearly fell over.
Cenn studied Odin, looking at all of his military officer-like features.
"Hello," Cenn said.
"H-How are you alive?!" Odin said. He seemed horrified by that fact.
"Um," he said, "because I am?"
"But your leg was-" Odin looked down at his left leg, and was immediately met with the answer to his question. Cenn had rolled up the left pant leg of his pants, so the peg wouldn't get caught in it. The titanium peg was as bright as ever, and Odin looked ashamed of himself.
"He helped us defeat the attack of Black Fist soldiers," Keri said to Odin. "Isn't that a reason to trust him?"
Odin looked at Cenn in the eyes.
"I shall let you into this Rebellion. But know this," he pointed a finger at him, "If you pull anything that intentionally tries to hurt the Resistance, I will personally kill you. Are we clear?"
Cenn looked up at Odin. "Sure."
Keri held Cenn's arm and started to pull him in the direction of the barracks.
"Come on," She said, "I want to introduce you to some other people."
They both went into the barracks where everyone was taking off their gear. Keri led him over to a girl with long black hair and glasses. She had onyx eyes and dimples.
"Sera," Keri said, "I'd like you to meet Cenn."
The girl looked at him. Then she looked at Keri. She looked back and forth between them until she finally made the connection. Her eyes grew wide and she covered her mouth with her hands.
"He's..." She said through her hands.
"Yup," Keri responded, "he's my brother."
Sera looked him up and down.
"His eyes are weird..." She said, "I mean, you've described them to me so many times... but it's so much different to see in person..."
"I get that a lot." Cenn said.
Sera looked at him up and down. She noticed the giant sword on his back, and she squealed in excitement. Then, she was instantly behind him, inspecting the sword and its features.
"She kind of has a weapon fetish." Keri explained.
Sera's eyes were practically shimmering.
"You want to see it?" He asked.
Sera nodded her head fast enough to give anyone a headache.
Cenn took the sword out from his back, and held it out in front of him. Sera looked at it.
"It's beautiful...." Sera said in awe.
When she was observing it, she asked a very odd question.
"Can I hold it?" She said.
"Um," Cenn said, "I guess so. If you can, that is."
"What do you mean?" She asked, "You're holding it just fine and you don't look that muscular."
Cenn smiled to himself. The only reason why he was able to even hold the thing was because of his Omnishard ability. But, he decided not to tell her. This was going to be great!
"Sure." He said, "You can hold it."
"Yes!" She said.
Cenn held the sword out in front of him and she grabbed the handle.
"Alright," he said, "I'm letting go now."
"Okay." She said.
Cenn immediately let go. The sword's blade immediately dropped to the floor. Sera fell over along with the sword, being pulled down by the immense weight. She got up and tried to pull the sword up off the ground, but to no avail.
"You alright?" Asked Cenn.
"HOW DO YOU HOLD THIS THING?!" Sera yelled in complete shock.
Cenn had already decided to keep his Omnishard status from everyone else.
"I guess I'm just used to holding heavy things, you know, since I've been living with a blacksmith for seven years."
"You've been living with a blacksmith?" Keri asked.
"Yeah," he said, "he was the one who found me when I woke up and walked to the nearest village. He even risked amputating my leg and had a doctor link my nerves up to a thing that kind of looked like this." He shook his peg. "It was shorter though, because I was ten years old at the time. I've gradually had get new ones every time I grew a couple of inches."
"Oh," she said.
"Anyway," Cenn finally got back to the problem at hand, "I need to see the leader of the Resistance."
"Sure," Keri said.
Kai went up the stairs and went behind Cenn.
Cenn lifted his sword off of the ground with one hand, and Sera stared at him in awe. He put the sword on his back again, and followed Keri up to the leader's room.
Keri knocked on the door. "Sir?" She said.
The door opened, and there stood a man, who looked to be in his mid twenties, with silver hair and eyes. He wore a dress shirt under a black waistcoat, and black pants and shoes. He also wore a shorter length black cape.
"What's up?" He said. He seemed like a pretty lax guy. Then he looked over at Cenn and his eyes grew wide.
"Is this-This is-" he started laughing to himself.
He started patting Cenn's arms and shoulders.
"Man..." He said, "You look at lot cooler in person."
"Thanks," Cenn said while laughing to himself.
"Keri talked about you all the time. Mostly about how you weren't dead and how everyone was wrong, but she still talked about you."
"Shut up!" Keri said, blushing.
Cenn laughed.
The man looked over at Cenn.
"So," he said, "what brings you here?"
"If you don't mind, sir-"
"It's Finn." He corrected.
"Okay. Finn, if you don't mind, I'd like to speak with you in private."
"Sure. Of course." Finn beckoned Cenn inside of his room, and closed the door behind him.
"Alrighty then," he said, "What do you want to tell me?"
"I want to tell you the Black Fist's true intentions."
Finn suddenly got serious.
"You see," he said, "My friend who was with me just before used to be a part of the Black Fist. He was actually promoted to one of the highest positions. This was because his father was abusive to him and his mother, so his mother killed his father. She was punished with execution, so he was left an orphan. He joined the Black Fist because of the promise of food and shelter, and a way to protect himself from the dangers of the world. After staying with them for three years, he finally figured out what their true plans were."
"And that was?" Finn asked.
"They are trying to resurrect an all-powerful being known as Zannos, the physical embodiment of pure destruction. They wish to control the beast with the power of the leader's Omnishard, who, from what I heard from Kai, has a Stage Five. He wishes to reshape the world in his image, and use the beast's power to do so."
Finn stood up and leaned on the coffee table.
"This is a lot of information to process..." He said.
"But," Cenn said, "there is something I can do to help."
"And what would that be, Cenn?" He said, "What could you, someone who has been gone for seven years, do to help us now?"
"This." After saying this, Cenn's eyes started to glow blue and and aura formed around his fist with his Omnishard. The Omnishard was covered by his gauntlet, so Finn didn't see it when he first saw him. Cenn's fist came down on the coffee table, smashing it into pieces.
Finn looked at Cenn in surprise, shock, and confusion.
Cenn's eyes went back to their normal white color.
"What the hell..." Finn said.
Cenn took off the gauntlet that covered his Omnishard, and Finn looked even more surprised.
"You have..."
"A Stage Five Omnishard."
Finn was silent for a little while, and Cenn sat down, waiting for a response.
Finally, Finn spoke.
"You're hired."
