Omnipotent

Chapter 7

It had been eight hours since they left, and it was getting dark. Cenn and Kairi were leading the group, with Kane, Aori, Kai, and Girae following close behind. Cenn signaled them to pull over, and they came to a big tree on the side of the road. They pulled over one by one.
Cenn and Kairi got off their bike and went over to the rest of the gang.
"Its getting dark," Cenn said, "we are going to need to find a place to sleep. Any ideas?"
"We could just rest here," suggested Kai.
"And risk getting mauled by a krusa in our sleep? Not a chance."
A krusa was a wolf-like creature the roamed the fields of the south country, which is where they were right now. They are much larger than regular wolves, and are much more deadly. They are most active at night, so sleeping out in the open would risk getting eaten.
"Excuse me," Girae said, "but I think I have a suggestion."
Everyone looked at her.
"There's an old abandoned village nearby. I study navigation in school, so I know the geography and locations of this area very well. The village is to the north, so based on the direction in which the Black Fist came, they probably already took it over. There should be extra supplies and other necessities their, since the Black Fist's main priority is to eliminate all threats, and not destroy or steal any food or water. Or at least, that's what you explained on the way, Cenn."
Everyone looked at each other.
"Sure," Cenn said, "we should start heading over there, then."
They all got back on their bikes, except for Aori, who went over to Cenn and Kairi's bike.
"Excuse me," she started, "m-mister Cenn?"
"You can just call me Cenn, Aori."
"O-okay. I-I need to tell you something when we get to the village..."
"Sure," Cenn smiled, and Aori smiled back.
Aori ran back over to Kane and hopped onto the bike.
"Which direction do we go in, Girae?"
"I'll lead the way," she said.
They all started up their engines and followed Girae and Kai down the road.

It was an hour until they got to the village, and the sun had almost set. The village was completely abandoned, and some of the buildings were still intact. Thy all stopped outside of a general store, and Cenn used his enhancement power to break the door down.
It was still filled with food and supplies. They gathered as much as they could to bring down to an abandoned house. They all got separate rooms, along with their own stash of food and water. They would need to ration out the supplies so they would have enough to fit for the journey ahead. The sun had set, and everyone was in their room. Kai and Kane would sleep on the couches in the living room, Girae and Aori would share a bedroom, Kairi would have her own bedroom, and Cenn would sleep on the floor of the living room.
As everyone settled down, Aori came over to Cenn.
"Remember when I said I needed to talk to you after we got here?" She said.
"Of course."
"Can we do that now?"
"Sure."
They walked into herself and Girae's bedroom.
"Okay." She said.
"What's the matter?" He asked her, "You seemed worried before."
"Yeah, it's sort of like that." Cenn squatted down so he could talk to her face to face.
"Well, you see," she started, "remember when you told Girae and I about how you have an Omnishard, and how it's supposedly the strongest one?"
"Yes, I do remember that."
"Well..." she trailed off, "J-just look."
She unbuttoned the back of her dress, and showed Cenn her back.
He gasped.
She had an Omnishard. Not only that, but it was the same color as Cenn's.
"No way..." he said.
"I figured that you could tell me if it's similar to yours?"
"Aori," he said, "not only is it similar to mine, it's the exact same thing as mine!"
"So you mean..?"
"Yes," he paused, "you also have a stage five Omnishard."
She gasped in surprise.
"That explains why you said the people who had broken into your house got blown back," he explained, "it's because you used your unique ability!"
She buttoned her dress back up.
"Cenn," She said, "I-I want to ask you something."
"Anything."
"Can you train me?"
"Of course! Let me just go let Kai kn-"
"NO!" She stopped him, "You can't tell anyone."
He couldn't believe it. This ten year old girl was giving him orders. Not only that, but making smart decisions. This must be a side effect of having a stage five Omnishard, as Cenn himself had recollection of being a lot smarter than the other kids his age.
"Okay. I won't tell anyone."
"You promise?"
"I promise. I'll start training you once we get to the Resistance headquarters, okay?"
"Okay." She grinned cheerfully at him.
"Now let's get back to the others, okay?"
She nodded. They walked out of the room and into the living room, where everyone was. They Kai and Kane were setting up the couches for them to sleep in. Kairi was talking to Girae in the kitchen.
"Why don't you go over to the girls." Cenn said.
"Okay." Aori shuffled over to the girls and joined their conversation.
Cenn walked over to Kane and Kai. Kai was eating a bag of potato chips, and Kane was fighting the urge to fall asleep.
"I guess I have the floor then," Cenn put a blanket on the floor, laying it out neatly.
He took off his armor and leaned his sword against the wall.
He wrapped himself in his wings, and lied down on one side of the blanket. He grabbed one edge of the blanket, and rolled to the other side, wrapping himself in it.
"Looks like you're getting comfortable." Kai said.
"I'm tired," Cenn said and yawned.
Girae and Aori had went into their room and Kairi went into hers. The guys soon went to sleep.

It was about 12:00 at night. Cenn couldn't sleep, even though he said he was tired. His mind was racing, thinking about the last few days. How could something like this happen in such a short amount of time? Three days ago life was normal. He had a great birthday, and everything was fine. But everything changed. He never expected it.
He heard the door to one of the rooms creak open. He sat up and looked over in the direction of the noise. Kairi stood in her doorway, looking over at Cenn.
"Cenn?" She asked, "Are you awake?"
Cenn breathed a sigh of relief. "Yes," he replied, "I'm awake."
"C-can you..." she trailed off. She seemed embarrassed. "Um..."
"You want me to sleep with you?" Cenn said.
She nodded.
"Of course I will." Cenn got up and walked over to Kairi. He led her back into the room and sat her down. He walked back over to the door and slowly closed it.
She was already lying down by the time he turned back around. He smiled. He walked to the side of the bed and sat down on the floor and leaned his back against the bed.
"Cenn?" Kairi asked.
"Yeah?"
"Hold my hand..."
She moved towards where he was and let her arm go off. Cenn took her hand in his. He waited a little bit, and when he looked up at her, she was sound asleep. He kissed the back of her hand, and she smiled in her sleep.
He sat there for couple more minutes before falling asleep.
They had a long day ahead of them tomorrow.
