Chapter 5: Baketball??

Kazumi's p.o.v:

It's been a week since I've last visited Ichigo-San's house and I don't plan to anytime soon. The sun is shining and the birds are chirping away happily as I enter Rakuzan high. The talk of this school at the moment is about a first year student becoming the student council and captain of the basketball team which is none other than Akashi Seijuro.

I enter my classroom and pop on a pair of earphones in my ear and close my eyes till sensei comes. There happened to be a few people in class but it looks like I'm early. I felt a soft nudge on the right of my shoulder to notice sensei right before my eyes.

 I take off the earphones and look up to him, "Kazumi, go to the student council office you have been chosen to be the Vice President by the student council." Was my ears playing tricks with me? Me? "I understand sensei, please excuse me," I said as I stood from my seat and walked out of the classroom.

As I made my way to the student council room, I noticed a few people staring my way and whispering to each other. This must be the work of Akashi-kun I know it.

I knocked on the door and proceeded after I heard a "come in", from Akashi-kun. "You must be wondering why I chose you to be Vice President Kazumi, well it's simple I could not find anyone to suit my criteria and found you were my last resort and closest to my ideal interpretation. I also allowed Mayu to be apart of the the student council so do not fret. Think nothing more of it and don't bother to ask me anymore questions since I won't be answering them."

Last resort? Really!? I gritted my teeth and clenched my fists hearing what was coming out of his mouth. "You can leave now", he said.
"No", I replied calmly yet seriously. Akashi-Kun glared daggers at me in which I felt myself tense up. "You know you're the first person to have ever defy me like that", he chuckled as he grabbed a scissor from his desk and threw it at me intentionally while I skilfully dodged it by moving slowly yet gracefully to the left without even letting a strand of hair to be cut off. His eyes had a glint of bloodlust at that moment as if looking down on his prey. 

But I didn't care. Things like that doesn't scare me, death doesn't scare me.

It was the end of the day as I wondered around the school with a sandwich in my hand. The tense atmosphere with Akashi-kun was interrupted by Sensei to check up on us. It was as if he realised something happened when I walked away since I could see his hair standing. We were probably emitting a dark aura around us. Mayu-chan also gave me a long lecture to get along with Akashi-kun after I told her about that incident but I guess she's probably right.

I was walking around till I heard some noises in the sports gym which made me curious. I quietly came closer and heard squeaks from shoes, loud thumping noises which only heightened my curiosity. I took a peek into the gym to see a Raven black haired person throwing a ball to a large, muscular man as he dunked the ball. 

My eyes sparkled as I watched them move around In a synchronising pattern around the court but for the ball to be stolen by a short blonde heat swiftly. "What are you doing Kazumi?" I heard a voice call me out of my trance. "Akashi-kun I was ermm... Just heard some noises and went to check, what are you doing anyway?" I asked curiously. 

I heard a couple of feet moving closer to where I was standing as I laid my eyes on Akashi-kun waiting for his response. "Akashi, who're you talking to?" The Raven black haired said, "oh, I never thought you had a fan."

"I'm/she's not a fan", we said in unison. The Raven black haired scratched the back of his head nervously. "My name is Mibuchi Reo" , he said. The rest of the people in the sports gym came out. "I'm Hayama Kotaro", the blonde hair chirped happily.

"The name is Eikichi Nebuya", the muscular man responded from hearing his friends saying their names. I bowed down politely, "it's nice to meet you, Mibuchi-San, Hayama-san and Eikichi-san", I replied. When I looked up, their faces turned a faint red. I wonder why.

"We were practicing basketball", Akashi-kun had finally responded. I've heard that before but I can't seem to remember. "Basketball??" I asked confused by the name. Everyone's mouth dropped open except Akashi-kun. "How do you not know what basketball is!? Its the most popular sport in this school!" Mibuchi-San gasped.

"Well you see, I've spent most my life in the countryside in America away from society so I don't know many things around here. But I have read a few books related to basketball, hehe", I sheepishly laughed as I sweat dropped. They all face palmed except Akashi-kun. In fact he's been very quiet ever since they came out, so I took a glance at him to see he was staring at me which gave me the chills.

 "Even though I don't know this sport, I could tell the pattern in your formation you were in as well as the weak spots in it which caused you to lose the ball so easily," I explained, "you need to analyse your opponent and predict their moves before they come near as well as find the fastest route to pass." The team was taken by surprise when I finished my analysis.

"Kazumi", Akashi-kun said, "be the manager of the basketball team. You have far superior knowledge than the previous manager who left." I was shocked to be asked and praised by Akashi-kun for a special role in a basketball team. I guess there are advantages of hacking, learning to analyse your opponent."I'd like to think about it before I decide Akashi-kun." I replied honestly. 

"Very well then,  exchange numbers with me and give me your decision by 8.00pm", he said in a monotonous voice. I nodded and gave him my number. 'This might be the first step of being acquaintances' I thought happily. With that I left and made my way back home.

(A/n hope you enjoyed this chapter with our clueless MC. I mean she is clueless in every way. Acquaintances? Really!?
