Kazumi's p.o.v:
It's finally time! Interhigh is here and the school had been wishing good luck to everyone in the basketball team who are going to play including me.
School had finished and I headed to the bus which was what we were going to take to get there. Everyone were in a seat and the only space that was left was next to Akashi. "You're late Kazumi, sit down because we'll be heading there right away", he said and gestured the seat next to him for me to sit.
I sat away from the window which was the place I disliked the most but it felt Iike Akashi was in his old world at the moment so I avoided talking to him. It's as if his eyes are saying they are ready to kill someone who gets in his way.
My phone received a notification to see Mayu-chan had texted me.
'Good luck on inter high!!'
'Thanks! Will do my best :)'
'I'll be there to cheer you all on and I'll drag Kaoru to come along as well'
'We'll win this! I have complete trust in my team'
I put my phone back in my pocket and placed on some earphones to listen to some music as I felt my eyes closing so I decided to drift of to sleep, I just hope I won't snore when I'm around Akashi since it'll be very embarrassing.
Narrator's p.o.v:
As everyone were talking except Akashi and Kazumi, he could not get his mind off losing as it wasn't an option though he knew victory was assured. He knew the consequences that were to face if he lost by his father who expected nothing but perfection.
As he was drifting off to a deep thought, he felt a heavy weight burdening his shoulder to see Kazumi was sleeping with little whistles every time she breathed. This brought a faint smile that quickly disappeared before not long.
Whenever she was with him, it brought ease to him as if he can act normal around her however, he doesn't want anyone to see his soft side. No one. Not Kazumi or even his parents.
He was to remain the cold hearted emporer and that was the way he liked it, to be feared by everyone who comes his way and the power to look down on others and not just by his wealth but with his own strength. That was what he valued the most and emotions were never planned to get in his way.
'Maybe the reason we get along so well is because we're very alike, we keep everything hidden from everyone but the difference is that I've always been strong in my ways that I don't want to change a thing' , he thought.
The team was nearing their destination, "everyone we are almost here", Akashi informed his team and looked towards Kazumi who rested on his shoulder, "Kazumi, wake up we're here."
Kazumi awoke hearing a faint voice and found that she had fallen asleep on Akashi. "Akashi! You should've told me I fell asleep on you", she said as she felt her face heating up.
"It doesn't matter but get ready", he replied flatly before getting up, "and just so you know, you drool in your sleep." Kazumi felt her face go red as a tomato as Akashi left in which she covered her face so no one from the basketball team would realise.
"You excited Kazumi? This is your first time at an official match ever since you became our manager", Hayama–san said.
"Of course I'm excited but I know our team will do well, after all I have complete trust in my team's abilities", she replied cheerfully regaining her normal self. This lifted everyone's spirit looking forward to the matches to face with the help of Kazumi.
"We should get going!" Hayama-san cheered. They all headed inside and began getting ready for the matches to come. "I need to pop to the toilet, I'll be back in a bit", Kazumi said while heading to the door.
"You might get lost, one of us can come with you", Mibuchi-san suggested.
"Don't worry, I saw one on the way so I should be fine", she replied confidently.
As she left the restroom after, she bumped into someone who fell down. "Ouch", a blue head muttered in which Kazumi had just realised his presence and quickly helped him get up.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't see you there, are you okay?" She asked surprised. He wore the clothing of a basketball player but a jacket which covered his school name and figured that he was a in a basketball team who was going to play. He has light blue hair, eyes and a small figure but a big bigger than Kazumi.
"I'm fine, thank you for asking" he said as he bowed.
"My name is Kiyoko Kazumi. What basketball school are you from may I ask?" She asked curiously.
"My name is Kuroko Tetsuya and I'm from Seirin", he replied almost robotically. Hearing the name sounded familiar as Kazumi realised he was from the generation of the miracles which Akashi had actually warned her about. His particular role was the phantom as he lacked presence from what she concluded after her research.
"Kuroko, let's go!", a teammate of Seirin shouted who had dark red hair.
"I hope we meet again Kiyoko-san", he said and bowed before going to his team. Kazumi sighed and went to her team since the matches would start shortly.
"Yo Kazumi! We're gonna have our first match so you should go sit there with the coach", Nebuya-san pointed for Kazumi to go to. The first match was against Yosen high and the match started with Rakuzan in favour as they had scored three more points than them.
However, Kazumi had realised a certain red head did not contribute in the match but on the bench beside her. "Akashi, why aren't you participating in the match? You are their captain after all", Kazumi said.
"That's because our victory is certain that my energy does not need to be wasted in this match or the next", he replied. Akashi was correct as the gap became larger with Rakuzan winning.
By the last quarter, Yosen high was much more exaughsted than Rakuzan but from her research, she thought that they would score more than they have as one of the generation of miracles was in that team but she did not see a purple head in sight.
"Guess he didn't play", she muttered under her breath.
Rakuzan had won their match against Yosen high and their next match which was against Too Academy and this led them to be one of the teams playing for the Winter Cup.
"I'm going to have some fresh air outside", Kazumi said and went outside as the sun was setting. While she was outside, she felt as if her every move was being watched. The static sound in her head began suddenly giving her a headache as it made the light in her eyes lose colour.
Her every move was controlled as she moved further outside while the real Kazumi was unconscious. "Kazumi, where are you going?" A demanding voice echoed in the air where only they were both alone.
Kazumi faced Akashi and walked closer to him silently as her lifeless eyes glared at him darkly with a viscous intent to kill.
