Chapter 20

CHAPTER 20!

~Kate's P.O.V~

I arrived at the park a good 10 minutes early and it looked almost completely empty. I slowly make my way over to a small swing set and sat on one of the swings. The sun was just about ready to start setting and it looked absolutely beautiful. I pulled my phone out of my pocket to check the time.

5:57pm

I looked around and sighed not seeing Niall around. I started lightly swinging back and forth while trying to shove my phone into the butt pocket on my jeans. I still remember when I was in 6th grade, I was swinging with my best friend Peyton at school and my crush came over so trying to act all cool I jumped off my swing, but instead of showing off and acting cool I ended up breaking my ankle. I still laugh at how stupid I was back then, but I have to say it kinda did work because a couple weeks after he asked me out. I laughed at the memory and looked back up at the sky. A few minutes past before I heard someone walk up behind me.

"Hello Mrs. Potter" Niall said as he came up behind me and pushed me underdog style.

"Hello Mr. Horan" I laughed smiling at him.

"How long have you been waiting for me?" He asked looking over at me and sitting down on the swing next to me.

"Um about 10 minutes, but it's ok don't worry'' I replied. I swear Niall looks flawless even when he doesn't try. During my little staring session I noticed 2 blue band aids on his hand.

"What happened to your hand?" I curiously asked.

"Oh, ha, long story" He chuckled rubbing the back of his neck.

"It's ok I've got time" I said in return.

"Ok, well, after I finished texting you I went to go make some popcorn, and when it was done I kinda stupidly grabbed it and burnt my fingers" He said laughing every now and then.

"And then you used bugs bunny band aids, how cute Niall" I giggled as he rubbed his hand then shoved it into his pocket.

"Thank you, I try my best" He said as he stood up off the swing. I joined him and we slowly started walking.

"So, that was your sister today? She looks like an older you but with blue eyes" He said breaking the silence that was slowly building.

"Yup, that was Sara Potter. Her and my dad came down and took me out for a late birthday lunch" I replied. I looked up at Niall to see his eyes full of shock and sadness.

"Oh my god, your birthday was yesterday!!!" He yelled throwing his hands into his hair.

"Yep" I breathed.

"I fucking forgot it was your 20th birthday, I'm sorry Kate, I was to busy being a dick to realize it" He chucked shoving his hands in his jean pockets.

"It's ok, really, don't sweat it" I replied trying to make him feel better. He just looked down at the ground I took matters into my own hands and stepped in front of him our body's almost touching.

"I told you it doesn't matter, I'm fine" I said looking up into his eyes. The once upset blue eyes I was starring at one moment immediately changed into happy and excited.

"Wait I have an idea" he said grabbing my hand and jogging out of the park.

"Niall, where are we going?" I laughed.

"Somewhere it's a surprise" he said winking back at me. We finally made it to his car and we both slid in.

"Niall! please tell me! You know I hate surprises" I whined.

"Like I said before, its a surprise" He said as he started the car and pulled out onto the main road.

"Oh and like I said before, I hate you" I huffed looking out the window.

"Hey have you ever heard the phrase 'Curiosity killed the cat?" He chuckled.

"God this is torture" I said sticking my tongue playfully out at Niall and looking back out the window. At least a half an hour later we were still on the road but things were starting to seem familiar.

"Um Niall, have we been here before? I feel like I have seen this place before" I said looking over at him.

"....Maybe.....Maybe not...." he said a grin growing on his face.

"Stop it!" I yelled slapping his shoulder.

"Ouchie" he whined rubbing his free hand over his shoulder.

"Have we been here before?" I asked more seriously now.

"Ok, fine, yes we have, this is near the place I took you when we went on that, well, our date" he said focusing back onto the road.

"Oh right! I knew this place was familiar!" I cheered looking back out the window seeing something big in the distance. Wait it kinda looked like a, ferris wheel? No way!

"Your taking me to the fair?!?" I squeaked the happiness almost pouring out of me.

"The 22nd annual Roslyn Town Fair. I have been coming here since I was 8 years old" he said pulling onto a dirt road the large ferris wheel becoming closer and closer. We finally got to the fair and a big banner was put at the entrance. Niall parked in a large makeshift parking lot filled with other cars. We both slid out of the car and started walking towards the entrance. I seriously felt like a 5 year old on Christmas. My dad used to take Sara and I to the town fair in my home town every summer when I was younger until it stopped coming a few years ago.

"You are really excited about this" He chuckled looking over at me as we walked into the fair.

"Uh yeah, you could say that" I replied smiling back at him. The fair was pretty packed with people and multiple game booths. Little kids were running around laughing with their parents soon behind them. Niall and I walked a little farther towards the game booths talking and laughing about which one to play first.

"We should play the ball toss" He said pointing over to a blue booth.

"No, we should play this booth first" I replied pointing to the ring toss booth.

"But Kate" He whined.

"Come on, I want to win a dolphin!" I laughed pulling him over to the small booth. An old lady running the booth gave us both 3 rings in exchange for a dollar, I went first and made 2 bottles.

"Monkey or Dolphin?" The woman said pulling 2 stuffed animals out from under the table.

"Dolphin" I said taking the stuffed dolphin and moving to th eside of the booth so Niall could go. He tossed and made all 3 rings earning himself a stuffed animal also.

"Monkey or Dophin" the old lady said again.

"Monkey" He said grabbing the monkey and walking towards me.

"I think Im going to name it Bob" He said holding the small stuffed monkey in front him.

"Oh Bob the monkey, original" I laughed as we continued walking throughout the fair.

Hey-o!!! So there is chapter 20:) I hope you liked Kate and Niall's fair date haha it will probably continue into the next chapter too. So how has everyones week been so far? I have science NECAPS tomorrow, ugh. Oh and btw my name is Mya! haha I know that was really random but I figured I will tell you guys:)
