The Love Through Silence

Chapter 1

Silence is an interesting thing. People love it and hate it. They want it sometimes, but when they have too much silence, they want to scream. That's the thing about silence, it very confusing and indecisive. That's what it was like for Alec Lightwood. He was quiet and loved silence, until the day came that silence was his only choice.

Magnus and Alec had been dating for about two years now, and they were the happiest couple. Everything was perfect, until one night, everything changed. Alec was on a mission. A simple demon hunt with Izzy and Jace. Clary had stayed behind with Simon to help him study for his upcoming exams. There was only supposed to be about five demons, when it turned out there was about fifty! They waited outside the warehouse for backup until ten demons came out and went straight for the Shadowhunters.

The three of them were able to fight them off but they knew they couldn't take on all the others. They waited half an hour and there was still no backup. Alec had a date with Magnus and was already an hour late. He became surprisingly impatient. He tried to call Magnus, but his phone didn't have service. He decided to go in and fight as many as he could. The leader of the demon pack found him and realized that he alone was able to kill about fifteen demons on his own. He found a large metal rod form the warehouse structure and smashed it over Alec's head. He was knocked out instantly, forming a pool of blood around his head. Jace and Izzy came running in with backup and they were able to get most of the demons but their leader got away.

Jace and Izzy ran to Alec in a panic. Clary came and made a portal with her rune. Jace picked up Alec and they all went through the portal and straight to the Institute's infirmary. The doctor's were running around asking what happened to Alec but Izzy and Jace could only guess what happened since they were outside when it happened. Isabelle left the room and called Magnus. She knew that when Alec woke up and Magnus wasn't there, he would never forgive her. (On the phone) Isabelle- "Magnus, you have to come to the Institute as fast as you can. It's Alec he was hurt pretty bad. Magnus couldn't comprehend what Isabelle was saying through her sobs. All he heard was Alec and hurt. In a second Magnus portaled to the Institute and ran to Izzy to ask what happened. No one was allowed in the infirmary to see Alec, since the doctors were still examining him. So all they had to do was wait outside his room for they news.

About two hours of waiting impatiently, and pacing, a nurse came over to them with a concerned look on her face. She then told them that Alec was in a coma. She said that if he was to wake up, he would have to learn how to do everything, like walking and eating, but they weren't sure if he would ever be able to speak again. Magnus' face fell along with his heart. The love of his life, was now comatose and might not wake up. "Can I see him?" Magnus asked the nurse with a shaky voice. The nurse nodded and led them to Alec's room. He was hooked up to machines that were beeping, keeping up with Alec's slow heartbeat and shaky breaths. Magnus fell to his knees beside Alec and started to cry. It pained him to see the love of his life like this.
