They went to bed holding onto each other just because of the love they had for each other. With everything that was happening to Alec, he had to admit, he was the happiest man in the world.

A month had passes and Alec was now able to stand up on his own. He needed help to walk, but he was so proud that at least he could stand and not be cooped up in a wheel chair all day. Alec was nervous and excited for the wedding. He wanted to be the one to walk down the aisle since Magnus was the one who proposed. All he had to do was be able to walk a few steps on his own, then he could have help for the rest of the way. The wedding was in five months. They decided not to wait the year that fiancés normally waited before getting married. Neither of them could wait. Alec hoped that he would be able to walk by then, but realistically, it took him almost two months for him to stand up on his own. He decided to do his own sessions. He would stand up and hold onto anything he could to try to walk. Every time Alec tried on his own, it would end up with him on the floor and Magnus running to his aid. That night he decided to finally talk to Magnus about it. "So, we haven't discussed who would be walking down the aisle yet." "I guess we haven't, what about it?" "Well, I was thinking that if by then, I could at least take a few steps, I could walk down the aisle. Even if I don't walk the whole way, just as much as I can." "Babe, of course you can. That is a perfect idea. I would love to see you walk down the aisle." "Thank you. I love you." "I love you too."

Izzy came the next day to plan the wedding. They already had a reception place booked, a caterer, and the flowers. When she opened her binder, she looked at them and asked "So who is going to walk down the aisle? No offense Alec, but I'm assuming Magnus." "Actually we talked about this last night. We decided that if Alexander can at least take a few steps on his own by then, he would walk down the aisle, obviously, I would come and help him the rest of the way when he can't walk anymore." "I love it!" Izzy said clapping for them. Alec gave a big smile and gave Isabelle a hug. "I have one more question. How are the vows going to happen?" Magnus looked at Alec for inspiration. Then Alec grabbed his IPad, since Izzy didn't know how to sign, and typed "What if we sign but Magnus translates. So I'll sign and he can repeat it for mine and then he can sign and talk for his?" "That is actually a great idea darling!" Magnus said. "Great! So what are the theme colours?" Again, looking at Alec for an idea, Magnus said "What about black and gold, elegant but us." He said taking Alec's hand. Alec smiled. Isabelle squealed with joy. Alec and Magnus laughed. They continued planning for two more hours. When Isabelle left, they decided to write their vows. They sat in different rooms so they wouldn't be able to read each other's vows early.

The day finally came when Alec took his first step. Colleen was watching Alec carefully stand up at the bars as Alec moved his foot forward, she noticed that Alec was about to reach for the bar, but resisted. He was able to hold himself up for about five seconds until he was about to fall, but caught himself by pulling his other foot in front of him to catch himself. Colleen and Magnus cheered and both Alec and Magnus cried. Alec sat down, almost as happy as he had been when Magnus proposed. Magnus called Jace, Clary, Izzy, Simon, and even his parents to tell the good news. Everyone was ecstatic. In just a few hours, everyone was at the apartment to congratulate Alec. Magnus was happy that he recorded the whole thing. He put the video on the T.V. and everyone sat around Alec and watched. They had a small party and Magnus could tell how happy Alec was, his smile never left his face the whole night. Alec was finally having hope that he could walk down the aisle and marry the love of his life.
