The Love Through Silence

Chapter 10

It was finally the day of their wedding and everyone was running around trying to make sure everything was perfect. Jace was helping Alec get dressed. Simon and Raphael were with Magnus helping him get ready. Clary, Izzy and Maia were in Isabelle's room getting ready. "Nervous?" Alec nodded as Jace helped him with his tie. "Trust me, when it was mine and Clary's wedding, I was so nervous but after the ceremony started, it was amazing. You really feel like a new man." Alec smiled and hugged Jace. He got Alec's wheelchair and brought it to him. "Ready?" Alec nodded and took a deep breath. The wedding was being held in the Institute Courtyard since Magnus wanted an outdoor theme but Alec wanted to please his family in some way by having it at the Institute. Alec waited with Jace in the library while everyone was setting up final touches outside. Alec heard a rush of people in the courtyard. Magnus was already at the altar waiting for the ceremony to start. Alec and Jace were supposed to go when the music started playing which would be any minute now.

All of a sudden, the music began to play. Alec took in a deep breath and readied himself. He looked at Jace with a reassuring smile. Jace pushed Alec towards the courtyard entrance. When they got to the aisle, Alec noticed that both he and Magnus had tears in their eyes. Alec then stood up slowly and everyone watched intently. Jace stayed right behind Alec in case he fell. Alec then moved his foot forward and took the first step. He thought to himself "Good, now five more. Come on I can do this. If I do this I get to be with Magnus." He took the second step and almost fell but Jace caught him in time. Alec took a second to breathe and calm down his nerves and went for his third step. This step seemed to be easy and more graceful than his last two. He was on his fourth step now towards Magnus. He looked up at him, tears slightly falling down his face with joy. Alec had only been able to take five steps before falling. He was on his fifth step now, hoping that he was going to be able to do one more after this one. He took his fifth step and wobbled slightly, he steadied himself and started to take his last step on his own. Everyone was on their toes waiting impatiently to see if he could do it. He looked up at Magnus who was ready to bolt down to catch him. He slowly moved his foot and before he was about to fall, he caught himself with his other foot. Less than a second later, Magnus was holding him up tightly. Alec was holding onto Magnus for dear life as they slowly made their way down to the altar and before he knew it he was there with Magnus holding his hands.

 Alec sat down for the beginning part of the ceremony to give his legs a break before he would have to stand up again for the vows. He was so surprised and proud that he actually did it. He held Magnus' hands during the ceremony and when it came to the vows, he called Jace over to hold onto him because he was losing his balance and couldn't hold onto Magnus since he was signing too. Magnus went first. "Alexander, although these past few months haven't been easy for us, I wouldn't have it any other way. When I thought I had lost you, I couldn't function. After each one of your seizures, and I thought you were gone, my heart shattered into a million pieces. I am so madly in love with you. I don't know what I would do without you. I need you in my life Alexander. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I promise to love you forever. I promise to be there for you through the good and bad. I will be there with you no matter what. I love you with every fibre, every cell in me." Magnus signed as well as spoke for the guests. Alec was in tears. It was now his turn. He took a deep breath and began to sign while Magnus translated. "Magnus, you are my first and only love. I am so grateful for how loving and how patient you have been with me these past few months. I have no idea how you did it. This is how I know that you are the one for me. Many people would not have stayed with someone who can't even tell them they love them, but you're different, you look right past that and looked at me, and I love that about you. We have gone through so much but we stayed together through all of it. I feel like the luckiest man in the world to have you in my life. You are my soulmate, and I couldn't ask for a better person to spend the rest of my life with. I love you so much Magnus. I have dreamed about this moment for a long time now. I never thought I would be here today with you a few years ago. I promise to love you forever. I promise to be with you through the good and the bad. I promise to be with you no matter what. I love you with all my soul and being Magnus." Now Magnus and Alec were both crying, now holding hands, both shaking. It was now the ring exchange. Jace came beside Alec to give him the ring, since he still had trouble turning, and Magnus turned around and got the ring from Raphael. They put the rings on each other. "Do you, Magnus Bane, take Alec Lightwood, to be your wedded husband?" "I do." "And do you, Alec Lightwood, take Magnus Bane to be your husband?" Alec was about to sign, but he felt something go raging through him. He felt as if he could speak. He opened his mouth, trying to form the words "I do". Magnus looked at Alec and immediately realized what he was trying to do. "That's good Alec, come on, you can do it!" Alec tried again, this time sound actually came out of him, now all he had to do was say I do. "I do!" Alec finally said in a hoarse and scratchy voice. Everyone in the room gasped and cheered. "I now present you Mr. and Mr. Lightwood-Bane!  You may now kiss!" Alec and Magnus kissed passionately. "I am so incredibly proud. I love you so much." Alec tried to speak again but nothing came out, he figured it was just the heat of the moment mixed with his nerves. He replied "I love you too." 

 Isabelle, Clary, Jace, Simon, Maia, Raphael, and even Alec's parents came up to Alec and Magnus. Alec sat down, since he started to lose his balance. They all congratulated them. Magnus took Alec's chair and pushed it down the courtyard cheering. Everyone cheered them on. When it was time for the reception, everyone from the ceremony plus more were there. It was perfect. Magnus and Alec slowly walked into the hall after everyone, hand in hand towards the head table. They were all throwing confetti and cheering for them. They sat at the table and kissed again, holding their hands in the air. Dinner came and everyone ate and talked about the wedding. They were all so shocked. As soon as people took their last bites of food, they immediately went to the dance floor. Even though Alec wasn't a big dancer, he wanted to have the first dance with Magnus as his husband. When they finished eating they went over to the dance floor and Alec put his arms on Magnus' shoulders. Magnus held onto Alec's waist and war of hearts (acoustic version) came on. Magnus slowly swayed Alec from side to side. Magnus felt Alec try to move his feet along with Magnus but gave up fairly quickly. They kissed as they danced, they couldn't keep their eyes off each other. They were so happy. This was their dream come true.
