The Love Through Silence

Chapter 9

Another month passed, and Alec could now take two steps by himself. He felt proud of himself, yet he was still worried that he wouldn't be able to get down the aisle. Magnus realized how badly Alec wanted to walk, so he helped Alec everyday on top of the days Colleen was there. He loved Alec with every fibre in his body and wanted to help him with everything he had. Alec loved the way Magnus took the initiative to help him. With the wedding in about four months, Alec desperately wanted to walk.

As the wedding came closer, Isabelle found herself in their apartment more often than her usual once a week meetings. The wedding was almost complete. Isabelle was surprisingly good at planning. She stayed calm in stressful situations and had an excellent taste, for basically everything.

 Magnus and Alec were so grateful for Izzy that they invited her to a fancy dinner in thanks for all the work she had done for them. The night was filled with laughter and happiness. They realized at how happy she was for them. They couldn't ask for anyone else to help plan their wedding. When Isabelle left, Alec and Magnus were left at the table. Magnus stood up to start leaving, when Alec grabbed his arm. "Why don't we stay here for a little longer? I don't think I'm ready for you to take off your suit just yet. You look too good in it." "Well how can I refuse with that adorable little smile of yours?" They both chuckled as Magnus sat back down and held Alec's hand. "you should really wear it more often, it really brings out the beauty that I fall in love with every time I look at you." "Maybe now I'll wear it every day if it gets you to be sappy and romantic and overall so damn cute." Magnus laid his hand on Alec's now pink face.

 The wedding was now two months away and Alec was worried. He could only take three steps on his own, which is not nearly enough to get him down the aisle. He asked Magnus if he could call Colleen to ask if she could do more in depth sessions, but she said that she was already overworking him since every time he has a session he falls asleep quickly after. Alec's face dropped and Magnus held his face in his hands as if he were trying to catch it from falling. "Listen to me Alexander, I promise you, you will walk as much as possible down that aisle. Do you trust me?" "With every fibre of my being." Alec replied. "Then trust when I say you are going to walk down the aisle. I will do whatever it takes." Alec smiled and kissed his fiancé.

Every day, Magnus and Alec worked on his walking more than planning the actual wedding. Alec was at four steps now. They set a goal for him. If he can walk at least six steps, their wedding will be perfect. He didn't want to overdo it and not even be able to stand at the altar. They worked so hard, but they knew it was going to be worth it. They are going to have the perfect wedding. They would be getting married defying all odds of love, life and death, and pain.

The wedding was in two weeks, and Magnus and Alec were doing tuxedo fittings, obviously in different rooms so they wouldn't see each other before the wedding. Alec was so proud of himself, he was just one step away from walking the aisle. He had two weeks to master six steps, after that Magnus would come from the altar and help him the rest of the way. Jace agreed to not only be Alec's best man but also to walk behind Alec while he was walking in case he fell.

It was the night before the wedding and Alec had stayed at the Institute with Jace that night because it was bad luck to be with your fiancé before the wedding. Jace was helping Alec into bed and was about to leave when he felt Alec grab his arm. He turned and sat down on his bed. Alec took his IPad and started to type "I want to thank you for being here for me through everything going on."Jace smiled and said "Alec, you're my Parabati. Of course I'm going to help you, you are my brother, my best friend, I would do anything for you. I will always be here for you no matter what." They hugged and Jace left the room. Alec was getting so nervous yet excited for tomorrow. He was going to marry the love of his life. He couldn't be happier.

 Magnus couldn't sleep all night. He was too excited about tomorrow. He couldn't wait to see the love of his life finally walk down the aisle. He had been waiting for this day since their first date. He knew that Alec was the one.
