The Love Through Silence

Chapter 13

They made their way to the hotel that was a few blocks away. Magnus called a cab to go to the hotel. He helped Alec into the taxi first then put their bags and Alec’s chair into the trunk. He went to sit beside Alec and said to the driver in Icelandic “The Reykjavík Hotel please.” “Allt i lagi.”  As they drove to their hotel, they couldn’t keep their eyes off of the view, it was amazing. They held hands the entire ride, occasionally pointing at something they saw on the streets. They were so in love with each other and with the city.
When they got to the hotel, Magnus got all the bags and Alec’s chair out of the trunk, then got Alec out of the taxi. He paid the taxi driver and as he did that a doorman came to Alec to help with the bags. Once they were all inside, Magnus checked them into their room, and the doorman helped Magnus bring their bags to their room. When they got to the room, Magnus thanked the doorman and gave him a tip. Alec signed ‘Thank you.” to the man, but he didn’t understand what Alec was saying so Magnus told the man “Hann sagði þakka þér.” (He said thank you.) The man smiled and nodded them goodbye. Magnus unlocked the door and they went in. it was a beautiful room, one of the fanciest ones Magnus had ever stayed in, with a huge bed, a full kitchen, ensuite bathroom, and a beautiful balcony with a gorgeous view of the city with the mountains behind it. They were in love. They kissed and Magnus went to unpack their bags, since they were staying there for about a week and a half. Alec pushed himself around the room trying to help Magnus unpack. Magnus commented on Alec’s ‘driving skills’ and they both laughed and continued to unpack.
Back at the Institute, Jace started to have a weird feeling. He knew it was his Parabati rune. He quickly called Magnus to make sure Alec was okay, but he didn’t answer. He ran to Isabelle for help. “Iz, I have this weird feeling, it’s Alec, it’s our rune.” He spoke quickly. “Jace relax tell me what it feels like.” “I don’t know, it’s weird it’s something I’ve never really felt before or it was never this strong at least.” Izzy realized where Magnus and Alec were and started to laugh. “Why are you laughing, this could be serious, he could have been drugged or something. He could be in trouble. And Magnus didn’t answer his phone when I called, I even called Alec, even though he wouldn’t answer.” “Jace, you do realize that they are on their honeymoon right?” “Yeah, so what?” “Jace, think, what do couples do on their honeymoon?” “BY THE ANGEL IZZY! HOW COULD I HAVE BEEN SO STUPID! UGGGGGHHHHHHH! This feels weird and dirty. I hope they stop soon. And besides why the hell are they doing this now, it’s only 5:00?” Isabelle walked away laughing. “Time difference Jace.” Jace shuttered his body trying to get rid of the feeling of his Parabati, then went back to training to take his mind off of Alec.
The next morning, Magnus woke up before Alec and checked his phone. Nine missed calls from Jace. He looked over at Alec who was sleeping peacefully. He wanted to wake him up just in case something happened back at the Institute but decided not to and just slid to the bathroom and called Jace back. “Jace, hey, is everything okay?” “Oh yeah, hey Magnus, don’t worry about it, it was just me and Alec’s rune, it’s all good. Have fun on your trip, tell Alec I say hello.” “Okay bye.” Magnus stood there for a second then took in what Jace had just said. Was Alec hurt and he didn’t tell him, was it from the coma still? He ran to Alec and woke him up. “Good morning to you too Magnus, what’s wrong?” “ARE YOU HURT? IS SOMETHING HURTING RIGHT NOW? ARE YOU OKAY?” Magnus was so worried, he wasn’t even signing properly. “Magnus what are you talking about, I feel fine.” “Jace just called, he said that something was wrong with your rune yesterday.” Magnus was so confused. Alec was confused at first, then he had a moment of realization, then signed “Magnus you are too cute. Last night when we were… you know… I was really happy, Jace must have felt it. He told me that he does feel it sometimes, but he’s usually sleeping at that time or training, so he never pays that much attention to it. I guess yesterday with the time difference, he wasn’t training or sleeping, so he felt it.” They both laughed and kissed again. Now they could have a proper morning. Alec got up and went to his chair while Magnus went to the kitchen to start cooking breakfast.
Alec came up to Magnus “Magnus, can I help you cook?” “Of course my darling. I would love that. We haven’t cooked together in a long time.” They kissed again and Alec stood up beside Magnus at the stove. They flipped pancakes together and made French toast, omelettes and bacon together. Alec was able to stand for a long time while they were cooking, but then suddenly tried to grab the counter before falling on the ground. Magnus crouched down to help him up “Alexander, you okay?” “Yeah, I’m good.” Alec’s smile had wiped away. “I know Alexander. I want you to stand up again with me and walk with me too, but you have to be patient. You not being able to walk like before doesn’t make me love you any less, I love you Alexander, just the way you are. Okay?” “Okay. I love you too.” Alec’s smile reappeared and they kissed again before getting up.
